Merry Halloweenmas!  Have some quote pyramids!

why is Dwarven science always on fire?
Because normal science is boring
And because normal science rarely involves magma as part of a controlled experimental process.
what control?
Good point.
I don't know, I plan things carefully.  Then it all goes wrong.
Planning? What kind of dwarfgineer are you? Also, pyramid.
A half elf one.  Also, pyramid indeed.
You need a magma bath. NOW. pyramid megaproject.
Magma is a bit too warm for a bath...    Also, maybe I'll build one.
Run magma under water. You now have a sauna. *pyramids*
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Fixed that for you...  sort of.  Also, I ran out of things to make with Candy.
It's not ALWAYS on fire.... after all, once you mix in water, its encased in obsidian.
Which you hastily mine away so you can re-ignite the !!Science!!.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I firmly believe the best science is !!physics!!.
What about !!!!science!!!! ?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
How bout flaming sword-chucks?
I have a solution...
I wanted to make a epic battle between a Dwarf and a Goblin in Object testing mode. So I spawned both with good skillz and weapons, only to discover that, instead of a dwarf, I had spawn a Demon. There was no fight.

How
the
hell
did
you
do
that
TELL US

Object
Testing
ARENA
You
normally
can't
spawn
DEMONS

YOU
CAN'T?
LOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER THE GATES!!

THIS!

IT'S A REFERENCE DAMMIT!!
KEEP TALKIN'!!
KEEP BUILDIN' THA PYRAMID!!

OK

:D

WHAT
HAVE
I
CREATED

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE PYRAMID BY NIGGY. IT MENACES WITH SPIKES OF AWESOME.

My first ambush, all the goblins rushed my woodcutter... right into my cage traps, a few seconds later that same woodcutter is shived by a goblin thief.

Hilarious. Bloody hilarious.

Just had a huge Anti Climactic battle...

The Fifth Battle of Cloisteredwood.

The Army is under strength, replacements have still not been found for the six dead at the fourth battle of Cloisteredwood. A huge great Goblin force arrived, about 55 total, up against my 38 dwarf soldiers. In the Fourth battle of Cloisteredwood, if it hadn't been for a mad war dog the fortress would of been over run, and that was only 40 goblins.

The goblins approached in 4 groups.... the first was ambushed by the north tower, three go down. The rest run away. Kind of set the tone. Another group was fired at by the walls, two died, the rest ran away. Another group ran away BEFORE it got to the walls. The last group was the only one that managed to get near me, but my champion swordsdwarf killed all of them. End of siege.

Seriously, I was expecting like a huge battle..... stupid Goblins. Excluding the group that attacked the gate I count 8 dead goblins, and at least 1 was wounded. (With the group at the gate that'd be 21 dead Goblins).

Chicken goblins are the best kind of goblins, after the ones plummeting to their doom.
I'm embarrassed to have been about half the quoters in that pyramid...at least I was a major anti-pyramid advocate later.
You will go to Forhell. for your sins against forumanity.
Nah, he's getting buried in a quote pyramid.
Hey, don't I deserve a pyramid after my part in the Great Pyramid of You Always Roll 5?
BAD XANTALOS. BAD.
ALSO BAD MISKO FOR ASSUMING THAT I'D DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN. BAD.
IRONY
PYRAMIDAL IRONY
Yes
For the higher the pyramid the closer we'll get to Toady. I hope.

Then fill the bees with japanese hornets.
Then fill the japanese hornets with fire imps and goblins.
Then put Captain Ironblood in the middle of all that.
Then fill him with bees.
Then fill the bees with japanese hornets.
Then fill the Japanese hornets with magma.
Then fill the magma with spam.

then fill the spam with quote pyramids.
Then fill the quote pyramids with all of the above, and Egyptian Mummies.
And then take out all the mummies' organs.

Now throw in Brendan Fraser and a random hot girl.

Now we have an action movie!

Nah, Brendan Fraser comes off a little re-re now days.
Fine. Add a catsplosion or eight(y) and you have a modern action movie, if you remove plot :) .

And then fill the cats with marshmallowy goo, just for that Ghostbusters ending.
Fill it with this Quote Pyramid's Power! ( Currently Z+ 15)

And then feed the quote pyramid to an elven zerg rush.
Nah, mate. Now you're just getting silly.
Silly Cat Face, anythings possible.
Anything is possible? Including continuing this pyramid?
No, continuing this pyramid is not possible.

Quote pyramids are what anchors bay12 to reality.

Quote pyramids just make the forum software crap itself IIRC, which is why Toady nukes them.

...

Or maybe they really are the secret to enlightenment, and Toady wants to prevent us from attaining it? It all makes sense now!

Bay 12 as it is today owes a ton to the time period around the initial release of Dwarf Fortress.  Its the terminology that developed there and the growth of threads not directly related to creating/playing Bay 12 games which have grown into the "lower boards".  I thought it might be neat to have a single place for important parts of that process.
