Its not possible to build interplanetary communication equipment without preexisting parts.

And can we make those parts, or things that can make the parts?

Without the proper construction components and infrastructure it'd be impossible, even if there was proper working comms its unlikely to do any good; AI don't respond to distress.

I can't really see what you expect us to do. Ship is totaled. All the other AI are dead, we can't build anything, we can't salvage anything, and the planet is a boring barren husk.

Junkbot thinks on what is expected of it, evaluate possibility of repairs and ensure delivery of AI shells. Ship cumulative salvage flight status, probable. Status of primary engineering AI, minimally salvageable. Status of astrogation AI, unknown. Possibility of salvaging delivery, positive. Necessity of informing others of failure, none.

Junkbot scavenges what weapon systems are to be found and connects them to the engineering section, "Battleship." Junkbot works to make the engineering section space worthy, "Space." Junkbot collects as many complete AI shell as possible and secures them in engineering, "24,239." Junkbot works day and night, "Finished." The former wreck of the ship has been picked clean of anything useable or salvageable, and the repaired and now much smaller ship is ready to take off and deliver its cargo. Junkbot has become quite corroded, its shell is just about used up.

AI shells are not designed to be repaired like such, they are use and recycle.
