Is the fire breathing tortoise FB still down there? Maybe that's the FB you need to unleash into the outside world.

Yeah Ana Nokastostrot is a badass. That's definitely the way forward.

Sorry, but the turtle is already dead.  I'll engrave a slab to do a little CSI work on what happened.

Not specifically, no.  I think there were some leftover level linking jobs, but I haven't touched it yet.

It should all be hooked up right. Just order some dwarves to flip the levers and see what moves and what is hooked up to what. Afterwards, you can test it if you want (but make sure to save beforehand). If it succeeds, the zombie apocalypse ends, and if it fails, there's no way the fort will survive more than two attacking zombies (because a single zombie killed the entire military without taking a single hit).

On that note, GCSs do jack squat against zombies.  The more you know.

Don't you live on a crannog? Can't you just destroy the bridge leading to the base or block it?

The zombies are behind the wall, so the problem is more that they're stopping trade and migrants rather than actively gnawing anyone's face off.

Here's a plan: send the fort into crafting and engraving overdrive. If we can make the wealth of the fort stupidly high, we'll attract goblins who can kill the zombies.

Other plan: Turn the entrance to the fort into a bridge that catapults the undead into the ocean, or very far away on land. Just let them in on the bridge ( which you should seal from the actual base obviously) and let a few zombies in before sending them flying. Just rinse and repeat until all the zombies are smashed on the ground.

Basically, sealing the bridge on both side will allow you to let a few zombies in at a time. Sure, you may have to sacrifice one dwarf to deconstruct the wall leading to the zombies, but that's a small price to pay for your very own zombie pinball machine.

EDIT: Hell, if you just let a few zombies in and lock them on the bridge, you can keep them there forever, and catapult them back at goblins if they show up. Just build additional zombie storage facilities if your first bridgeroom looks too full for confort.

Further thinking: you probably want to connect the point where both bridges connect to the crannog's outter wall so the whole thing doesn't fall in the water once both bridges are raised.

Well, we've had some interesting developments.  I'm low on time, so I'll just copy my notes.

---

Making gold statues.  I am hoping that will improve moods.
Textile industry forming.

---

We finally have traction benches.

---

26th slate, 130

Oh dear.  Three GCSs are at semi-wild.

---

27th slate 130

Damn near had a heart attack when I got a job cancellation message due to elf lasher corpse.

Turns out that Persus just happened to see it on a nearby hill.  [ed. note:  This begins to happen all the damn time from this point on.]

---

Looks like the turtle [Ana Nokastostrot] "went missing in the year 129".  Doesn't tell me much >_>

---

One of the GCS climbed over the wall and went to gnaw on a goblin corpse.  The spider got one-shot without doing much damage.  -_-

[This happened multiple times as well, until I shrunk the animal pen zone away from the walls.  We're down to 10 GCSs now, and two are troublingly semi-wild.]

---

Dwarven Child getting possessed.  [Bleh.  Although, I suppose it won't matter as the odds of that child getting to adulthood are slim anyway.]

---

[ed. note: Actually, it was just one mason and one miner constantly slipping into depression and/or stumbling about obliviously.  I didn't see that it was the same name in all those messages.  Also, apparently that is a recoverable state now.]

---

24th Felsite, 130

Spoiler: That's ... nice. (click to show/hide)

---

Okay ... somehow a dwarf and baby were murderized outside of the walls.  I do not know why or how they got outside.

Kadol Amosterib was a Mafia Planter.
ézum Taniden was a Mafia Baby.

---

2nd Hematite, 130

And then the undead army just decided to bugger off.  I'm okay with this.

[ed. note: This floored me.  I was like ... where the hell did all those undead go?  I know I've been sieged by undead before and they stayed around until I killed them a decade later.  Hell, they stuck around even after the siege notice went away.]

---

4wolf was re-elected over again.  Yay.

[ed. note: Oh, whoops.  Maybe I should crosspost this to drunk fortress  >_>]

---

And now for some fortress photos:

I wonder how the named dwarves are doing in this nifty fort.

...I also wonder if the undead just went into ambusher mode. :P
