Suddenly, Toaster realizes something. "There was a miner who told all the other legendary miners to mine in those ill-fated places. There was also someone else who ordered the gates closed as the outdoor farmers attempted to rushed inside. Being the person in command, they were able to freely tell the undead hordes about us. They are the cause of more than thirty deaths this year. TheDarkStar is scum and needs to die."

"What? No, I'm not scum. Toaster is obviously scum. He's already voted to kill Ezum, and he's probably behind other deaths."

NQT relays a message through one of the ghosts that has been showing up. "TDS is scum and Mashahcheese is probably also scum".

TheDarkStar, because all Toaster's done is send people to their deaths against an undead camel, whereas TheDarkStar has killed dozens and dozens of dwarves in an ill-fated construction attempt of an execution chamber.

It wasn't just an execution chamber that killed people. Another 10 or so died to the zombies...

1 Opal

I think I know how to deal with the zombies: traps and siege engines. Catapults are good for training dwarves because they use stone, and, according to the wiki, ballista are good for blowing enemies to bits. There are bugs noted, but they (along with a trap corridor) should be good enough for our purposes. The one problem we have is the lack of room to expand; we'll have to build into the fort. Hopefully, I and whoever is after me can make strong enough defenses.

Suggestions for what I should incorperate/how I should do it?

Notable places: death path (will have traps on it), 1-z-level drop below to catch dodgers to force them to do the death path again, siege engine/archer boxes at the end of each hallway. Due to a lack of materials, our main metals for this area will have to be silver and copper. Silver will (hopefully) be ideal for siege engines; copper will be slightly better for everything else but it isn't great.

19 Opal

Stodir, Dwarven Marksman (Town) has been found dead.

A fire imp attacked him. There's actually no record of how Stodir died; the report has him yelling out in fear and then it ends.

20 Opal

flabort, Dwarven Cultist (Cult) has been found dead!

He died of wounds suffered in one of the mining accidents. He spent most of the year with crushed legs and arm. Also, he's cult.

HMR stands for Hazardous Materials Requisition, not Horrible Massive Ruination, though I can understand how one could get confused.

...and my computer crashes less than a week before the end of the year. Luckily, my last save is at 14 Opal, everything is normal My last save was 14 Moonstone, so I just lost two and a half months of time.  :'(

I'll get this done tomorrow.

If you were wondering what happened in the lost save: it involves a failed execution that leaves a dwarf with three useless limbs but still alive. It's also prompted me to plate the bottom of the execution shaft with gold to make sure nothing goes wrong this time. I'll also redesign the trap hall because I haven't even started on it anymore.

Can undead archers actually fire arrows? From what I've seen, undead dragons don't breathe fire even though they still should be able to.

Same with undead crossbowmen :V

A zombie got in somehow.

I think I'm savescumming now due to the fact that a single zombie killed basically all of the non-child population of the fort. It killed basically all of the military without taking a single hit. New strategy for next time: atomsmash all the zombies. I don't think there's any other strategy that can kill all of the zombies and stop them from entering the fort. A single one killed most of the war animals and more than a hundred dwarves singlehandedly; the hundred zombies outside could probably kill a military with thousands of dwarves.
