That's pretty much what my initial reaction was.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

My reaction was more along the lines of "I was wondering when someone was going to take a shot at making something like this." (But of course I had never heard of Lula, and this isn't anything I'm really interested in playing, and if something like this was on Steam, I probably wouldn't even notice)

This reminds me a little of Rock Star Ate My Hamster. Both in (general) theme and mechanics.
Was it an inspiration at all or is it just convergent evolution?

Definitely coincidence!

What we can absolutely promise is a $2 or less price point upon release.

Nice price point!

At that price point, your main problem won't be acquiring people willing to pay but rather people willing to have something like this appear on their credit cards.  Hm, you might be able to bill it as "TXT - JJT.com".  At that price point, it could easily be confused for a text messaging fee!

I'm guessing you're also planning to release this as an app (optimized version for phones at the same price)?
I can already imagine a bunch of drunk nerds at a bachelor's party purchasing this game on their iPhones while their leader checks out Strip Club ratings on Yelp.

Just came back from playing Toady's game where I prositute teenagers to pay for my political terrorism group to jump on the bandwagon and say Toady probably won't approve of your game about running a porn studio.

You think like we do :D  The mobile version will be much different in terms of graphics and tech with a much heavier focus on interactivity.

Huh, that's interesting. Because it seems really similar. Obviously I can't comment with any in-depth knowledge since the game isn't released, but the core mechanics seem to be the same (hire your performers, have them produce a piece of media paying for location, directors, etc, then release and use money to train up your people some more).

The only thing that surprised me is that this isn't freeware...

Damn near for the cost of development. We do also believe in demos of a completed project not public alphas. It's actually a big problem in the (game) industry right now, the race to the bottom and all that jazz. We'l do our best to account for as many potential players as possible.
You know, seeing as the majority of this forum is dedicated to playtesting a public alpha, admittedly one that is far more in depth then most triple A titles, this is an interesting sentiment. Though, I do think that you're right, in that its not specifically a good thing for every game.

Will there be variations made for various levels of things? As an example, you could produce a cheesy, completely inaccurate BDSM flick, or you could make an actual scene based flick.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

For a thread about an adult game, the lack of screenshots is both disappointing and relieving.

I would say the amount of screenshots is appropriate. 2 was enough to establish the general feel of the game and one of the core information screens and gameplay mechanics. For something that isn't completed yet I'd say that's about right.

At least a month before release we also want to put out an extended play video explaining some of our more ridiculous mechanics in detail.  Instead of releasing a projected feature list at this point (alpha) here's a (vanilla) list of things that are in the game:

Models - Hiring Factors

- Name, Age, location
- Relocation is an option for non-local performers. (costs extra to do so)
- Pay-per shoot expectations, both negotiable or non-negotiable rates
- plus or minus what he/she is willing and not willing to do
- Notable film/magazine shoots plus a number of others effect stats

External Influences

- Drugs
- Family
- Fame (can go to the model's head)

Upkeep

- Paying models
- Medical expenses
- The Crew
- Insurance
- Set and Studio costs (weekly unless wholly owned)
- Upgrades ( Small, Mid-sizes and large Studios, Warehouses, Offices, hotlines)
- Other legal fees

The random events wouldn't be very random if we posted them here however :P.  Although we can say that they include but are not limited to model incompatibility, fights on set,  lockjaw and erectile dysfunction. The list of possible product lines is also extensive and won't be posted here but we'll have them up on the site (after we redo it) in a couple of weeks. As always, thanks for the support!
