So UI work's done... that's a good one to get done so you can start showing off :P I like that you've set a specific scope and are sticking to it too. It's better a modest but focused scope than an ever-bloating feature list.

And out of curiosity, do any of you have experience with the porn industry? The way some things are written on the blog make it seem like at least someone has.

I do, to some extent.  There wasn't much money in what I was doing though!  But I know some of the ropes, most of my knowledge comes through association.

Just wrapped up part 4 of the Making Triple X Tycoon blog series which will follow development up until the outcome of our crowdfunding campaign.  We plan on moving it to video if possible but no promises, our producer is really, really lazy.  And we can't fire shareholders.

Update, we're still tweaking UI. Added a "Record" icon to the screen when a shoot is in progress. We'd do GIFs but we can't pay our artist (our only one) so the scenes just don't come together fluidly yet. We're also taking BDSM one baby step at a time.


All the animations in the game are actually done using rotoscope techniques. We think it'll look really good in those hog-tie scenarios. We're in talks with some actual kink performers as well to help us gear up for a whole plethora of stuff. We hope that it's something we can continue to do in the future, which depends on the campaign itself.

Now, most of the code is done. Our heaviest expense will be coming from frames, icons, levels etc. So go pledge(if you can!) Thanks!

Noticed you didn't make funding, sorry to hear that.  What are your plans going forward.

Maybe showing a screenshot of a fat guy tied on the floor wasn't the best move in seeking money.

Now, if you had fit girl hogtied, that would be totally and completely different...

You know, that actually helped us. You'd be surprised if you heard some of the requests we get, they're much more intense! The thing is, based on the first day we knew we weren't going to make it after hitting about $150 if I recall. Mind you, the goal was $1000 so we were optimistic. The campaign closed at $290. We were doing a whole lot with what we had already, which was no budget and 90% placeholder art.  At that point the game engine was almost done but not quite.  Now the engine is done and we've contracted an artist despite our failed campaign. 

The difference is that now we have to fall back on other areas of our niche business to stay viable, which is fine since game development for us was always meant to be secondary! Still the DIY approach slows things down a whole lot. Thankfully, my co-founders and I have managed to get some cash together in order to move things along a bit. Prior to that we had trouble keeping the bills paid! Hell of a mess but it's all good now.  If you want to help out (non-monetarily) come join the community.  We sure as hell ain't making this for ourselves! Go nuts.

Perhaps you could monetize your requests.  Essentially let the requestors pay for the art (at least in part), which you put in the game.  I know Toady One has included animals in Dwarf Fortress based on donations (forget exactly what the mechanics were, but it worked).

We had a tier in the campaign that most people did choose which entailed getting to put your own scenario in the game.  It's not the execution so much as it is the association that's the problem.  So we're literally giving it away (again) (for 48 hours, starting yesterday) to our old newsletter subscribers and registered users.  Of course it's not done yet, but this beats the shit out of begging for money to us.

Well, our main artist got really sick which led to some serious problems with cashflow while he was in recovery. Since the failure of our OffBeatr campaign there was an investment put toward producing additional assets that at the end of the day we were unable to receive.  This news comes right on the heels of us announcing that we had disbanded Joy-Toilet Collectives, a makeshift team of designers and testers, to focus on core development which included just myself and our artist.

The bad news is that we have to find a new artist and more money.  The good news is that the game still isn't dead. Shutting down Joy-Toilet Collectives means the game will be free to old subscribers and new users indefinitely whereas before there was only a window of opportunity.  Anyway, thanks for the support!

Been fixed!  Auto-fellatio reminds me of this one feature..

If you progress far enough there are all kinds of automated sexual maneuvers to encounter.  Still, we're in a shut-up-and-ship kind of mode over here.  We'll be in touch when there's more to show.
