I say that if someone gets shot in the haed they should have the likelyhood of surviving rolled. A crit means they live.  :P

But maybe a system like DF would be good.

Why not RP the combat? Realistic effects, if you get shot in the gut, you've been shot in the gut. Headshot will likely kill or do serious brain damage. Maybe roll for combat outcomes with modifiers thrown in.

I like realistic effects more then "You've been shot in the head, but since you rolled a crit you're totally fine" because the latter is a little too gamey for my tastes. The rolls to hit should be about how lucky you are, not how tough you are. You can be as tough as you like, but if you get shot in the gut you've been shot in the gut. Rolls to hit should probably have headshots be something spectacularly unlikely just to avoid unpleasantness.

Maybe have mechanics for using real tactics against human opponents. Like taking cover and surpressing fire being really useful. If your fight non-humans you're screwed though.

All right, this seems to be pretty popular. I will see what I will do.

If I end up using the clock, I will probably used a seconds based combat system for combat. Example:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Except with more detail and more accurate times for everything, obviously.

Another important part is character creation. Do we use stats? What stats would we use? Or do we just have skills? Do we just role-play everything?

Stats tend to confuse me plus I don't like the thought of having to keep up with a bunch of them but if the others want it i'm willing to learn.

I think that role play is good. Stats would be... eh.

No stats. Only roleplay. Skills are fine IMO.

Ok, looks like nobody really wants stats. It appears that everyone wants a rule-light game, correct? If so, what should be covered under rules instead of role play? (Hunger? Combat? Nothing?)

Like people said, realistic combat. Also, it would be cool to have a hunger/thirst system.

Could just roleplay that, sorta like what "If Forumites were trapped in an rpg" does.

Magic should be covered under rules as well. I don't agree with the idea of roleplaying hunger/thirst, it seems like a GM duty.
