I'm pretty terrible at marketing, if having someone else post this announcement didn't make it totally obvious...
In that thread, he announced a 24-hour Dwarf Fortress Tutorial LP event he will stream on Twitch, starting this coming Saturday morning. See his original Reddit post for details:

In the interests of simplifying the path to information, here's the skinny: As described, I'm playing Dwarf Fortress, as a tutorial fort (like those I've done in the past) which will run for 24 hours* and will follow the basic premise of previous tutorials. At the same time, the whole point of the event is that I'm collecting donations for a local children's hospital (Riley Children's Hospital). (*: I may have to take a break at some point, but I'll be pushing 24 hours of fort video along the way, even if it's not in one sitting - my promise to you guys.)
In effect, I'm going to play Dwarf Fortress live (win), teach players live (win) and collect money for a good cause (win) while advertising DF to whomsoever would like to watch (win). That's a lot of win, I think.
What do I need from you? I'd love to have you show up and discuss the stream, my methods and designs, or the pledge drive, and I'd love even more if you pledged a
donation to the cause, either before, during, or after the event.
None of the money is directed to me - all proceeds are for the kids, and all donations are tax deductible. It doesn't have to be a continuing donation (one-time is great) and you don't need to donate with your name - anonymous donations are A-OK!
If you would like to donate to the cause, but would prefer not to do so through me directly for any reason, feel free to visit
the Extra Life 2014 homepage and donate there, as the money will go to the same cause, but not count towards my collection efforts or go to my specific hospital. (This really *is* all about the kids. Okay... and a
little bit of DF on the side.)
I work at a board game store in the Pacific Northwest near Redmond and we're doing a 24 hour board game marathon for Extra Life. I am going to see if we can get this running on one of our TV's for the event. Thanks for the info!
Get me a pledge I can recognize/identify as yours (and the name of the store and/or event) and put the event on your screens live, and I'll guarantee you a shout-out live on my stream for bonus coolness points, if you'd like to put the spurs to your gaming party morale, mid-game...
