Sharos alights in the alleyway, grimacing slightly, "...annoyances. Can we be gone?"

Get going.

"Another question is whether our short one is going to be able to be within optimal shape. But for now, let's get out of this damned city."

The group manages to make it to the gate of the city. Unfortunately the portcullis is down preventing any escape. Several people, all carrying some form of weapon, and several corpses, many of them months old by the look of them, are guarding the only way to raise it. Up above you, on a roof, sits the mysterious man.

"Why hello. Leaving already? The party's just started." The Man looks directly at Sharos. In his right hand he carries a gnarled staff and in the left he carries the rod.

None of them appear to be advancing towards you and, in fact, seem unconcerned by your presence.

"...think he's going to cry. And then maybe rant about he'll show us all. Oh my, I can't wait," Sharos utters in a complete monotone, "Please, I want to hear your monologue, o' grand necromancer, bane of small and poorly defended towns."

Sharos looks around for shadowy places he could hide, stepping off the ground and allowing his wings to support him in a hover.

"Not quite. No monologues. In fact, no troubles at all. This is all a misunderstanding I'm afraid."

With all the people staring at you it would be rather hard to hide anywhere.

"So what you're saying is that, after being paid to retrieve a creepy rod for a shady fellow in hooded robes, when that same fellow shows up holding said rod and posing dramatically so-conveniently at the same time that a horde of undead attacks... it's not what it looks like? Ri-iiight," he drawls, "This must be one of those hilarious coincidences that the bards sing about, eh?"

"Again, not quite. You see it is all a misunderstanding. It's really all an artistic difference. You see; This town saw itself as alive. I saw it as an undead army. We debated it for a while. I eventually convinced them to my side. For years the Alkmaar have used undead as advisors. Fools. They didn't realize what they had. With the power of an undead army I can put an end to the rebellion. Destroy the demons infesting Nevenda-... I'm doing a monologue. Apologies I promised not to do that."

"I don't feel terribly well, my apologies..." mumbles Feckle, just to his comrades. "Perhaps you could strap me to my badger..."
