[+1] With that whole incident out of the way, and with no other real alternatives, the group settles in for the night. Awaking six hours later without quite as much pain in their limbs from the forced march the group prepares to... To do what exactly? [NL: -8]

"We need to find the trail again - to think we were so close... What is the blasted thief doing?"

Search for the trail again and head off! On Dimble. Stop to converse and plan if it ever looks like we are getting very close.

Sharos searches for signs of Eastley's passage.

The tracks, being right as they were yesterday, were relatively easy to follow. You pass a camp, which you presume is Eastley's, several minutes into your run. About an hour after that you realize that the trail is taking you onto a small mountain trail. It's really more of a very large hill, but you notice that on one side of the twenty foot wide road is a drop that only gets larger as you follow the trail. Soon the trail begins getting narrower.

When you finally reach Eastley he is sitting on a small rock that he obviously moved from elsewhere facing your direction. Despite the fact that he obviously knew you were coming he seems rather relaxed. The Skull tipper rod is by his left foot. He sits in the middle of the, now, 15 foot wide road. On his left there is sparse grass followed by a deadly fall. To his right is sparse grass followed by a hill far too steep to climb.

"Well hello there. You certainly found me quickly. I had assumed it would take far longer." The Masked man is smiling.

"Why did you take the rod, Eastley?"

The tall man stood up with a sigh, stopping only briefly to pick up the rod, and seemed to be weighing his options "I thought we were better friends than that. Do you know what this rod is? Do you know who it belongs to? What it can do in the right hands?"

"I think you'll find that not everyone has your same idea of right." Devon leans casually on her scythe. "Don't make me kill you. If you want to see your family again, give us the rod and go about your business."

"It's from a bunch of idiotic Kobolds and it's going to get me some coins for bringing it to some man in robes. However, enlighten me. If you don't hand it over after your explanation expect to be put down by our force."

"Have any of you heard of the Alkmaar and the plague sweeping through their land? Of course you have. Despite their seclusion everyone has heard of them. This rod isn't an ordinary rod. It's the Ancestor's Conduit. I've been trying to find it for years now. It has a dark power. Far darker than anything you have ever seen. Those who study it often go mad. Even being near it for too long can have... negative consequences. The living were not meant to handle it's power. It needs to be returned to its proper resting place. Surely you understand that? If it's money you want the reward for returning it to the Alkmaar in their time of need would be very great indeed. Please, you need to understand!"

Devon seems quite intrigued. "So... this staff could be used against the Undead Hoards, correct?"

"AGAINST!? No! It's going to be used BY the Undead Hordes! A powerful enough Necromancer with this thing could raise a hundred undead a minute. Ghouls! Wraiths! Spectres! Skeletons! Zombies! This thing is a menace to everything that lives and that was just its most basic ability! Imagine what would happen if Mortis herself was able to use it for even an instant! It needs to be returned to the Alkmaar. With it's power they could have a chance at stopping the plague that's destroying their nation. Without it they don't have a chance. So now, I will not hand it over until I am certain that you won't run off with it the second I do. We're talking about preventing genocide of all living beings in Nevendaar!" Eastley grew more and more agitated as he spoke, waving the rod around in agitation pacing back and forth though keeping an eye on the group the entire time.

"Perhaps I can see what religious texts could correlate with the rod. Anything that could give me an idea your not some sputtering and gibbering drunkard."
