The group is far too exhausted to travel on foot any longer, except Feckle who has been riding Dimble the entire time to keep up, when they arrive at Alluvial Crossing roughly 6 hours later. The water here isn't the deepest, around seven feet at your best guess, but the current is strong enough that it would sweep away all but the strongest of swimmers. A ferry awaits as does a large ogre and an old dwarven man.

"Ah! 'Ello! Wan'in' ta be crossin' me river eh? Ah! Say no more! Fer a simple gold piece each I'll 'appily let ye cross. Hm... Be a wee bit 'arder otherwise eh wot?"

The dwarf is obviously faking his accent but he does have a point. You're far too tired to swim across the river. So it's either pay the man or wait until the morning in order to attempt to swim across. Judging by the rapids it wouldn't be a good idea.

Sharos chuckles and fans his wings.

"A wee flight's no trouble for me, but these others may need your services."

”Good sir, I only have four fifths of a gold piece to my name, although I have a shortbow I could give you instead?”

Offer him a shortbow, or two, or two and a sickle.

”Has anyone else crossed today? Is there anywhere to stay within a short march on the other side?”

((edit: add, if necessary:))

”Or yesterday even? A human, about... well, tall, even for a human. Dressed in black, if I recall.”

Venena sighs as she goes through her pack and pulls out four gold pieces.
"This good enough for everyone that doesn't have wings?"

"Aye, he crossed 'bout a day er two aga. Right odd fella. Had a rapier but nae a shield in sight. Ah found it a wee bit odd I- Er Ah did. Anyways yer tribute works. Bob, lad, get ready for a crossin'!"

With that said he gestures you onto the boat. You're not entirely sure how this is supposed to work though but... ah... You suddenly feel a sudden lurch as Bob the Ogre starts pushing the boat along.

"Push boat. Eat goat. Push boat. Eat goat." with every step Bob takes in the deep, for you, water he repeats the lines. It takes roughly twenty minutes, due to various distractions on Bob's part, to get across. Sharos, obviously, has already arrived and is waiting on the other side.

"Pushed boat. Eat goat?"

"When we get back ta the other side Bob. Enjoy yer trip mates."

"Oh. You're here. Hurrah."

Search for traces of Eastley's passage. Retroactively if possible.

Also search and ask Dimble to sniff.

[Sharos: 9+5] You are unable to find any tracks whatsoever.

[Feckle: 20+4] You find several signs that Eastley stayed here for the night. Well, maybe not Eastley but the foot prints you do find are deep enough for one of his size. They seem to head out towards Timbertop, just like the dwarf said, at a pretty decent pace. Luckily, you notice, there is no sign that Eastley had a horse when he passed through. Dimble finds much the same through his sniffing, although he also confirms that it is Eastley.

"We're all tired, but I think we should keep going till darkness, or later, if we can. If he slept here last night we might have a chance of catching up. He must be... Half a day ahead? At least?"

Continue if the consensus is to continue.

"Poor Dimble will have to sleep before I do though," Feckle suddenly realised, "It's hard work for a badger to carry one as large as me. Let's push on then!"

"And damn my short pudgy legs," he added to himself...

Deciding that finding Eastley and the rod is more important than resting they group sets out.

HOUR 1

[Devon: 9+2] [Sharos: 11+2] [Venena: 19+0] [Feckle: 12+2] Actually, marching onwards isn't quite so hard. The group is easily able to follow the road with no problem.

HOUR 2

[Devon: 11+2] [Sharos: 4+2] [Venena: 8+0] [Feckle: 8+2] Okay, there's the pain. Most of you feel a deep burning in your legs and feel very fatigued. Surprisingly Devon seems to be rather well off considering her lack of physical strength. Sharos seems to take it the hardest, perhaps being more used to flying distances rather than walking. Either way, the group continues on as signs of Eastley are becoming more fresh.[Sharos: -6] [Venena: -1] [Feckle: -4]

HOUR 3

[Devon: 5+2] [Sharos: 14+2] [Venena: 5+0] [Feckle: 14+2] Things seem to be going well. Right until Venena collapses from exhaustion. Even Devon has started to feel the effects of fatigue. Signs of Eastley are very frequent now so he must be somewhat nearby though how you'll travel with someone unconcious is debateable. [Venena: -5]

Quote from: Player Status
Devon: 7/7
Feckle: 10/11 NL: 1
    Dimble: 4/10
Sharos: 9/10 NL: 6
Venena: 4/6 NL: 6

Quote from: Status Effects
Fatigued:  Characters can not run or charge. -2 Strength. -2 Dexterity.
Duration: Until 8 Hour Rest
Affected: Devon, Feckle, Sharos

Exhausted: Character cannot run or charge, moves at half speed and takes a -6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity.
Duration: 1 Hour [and then Fatigued until 8 Hour Rest]
Affected: Venena

Unconcious: Knocked out and helpless.
Duration: Until NL damage is less than current health.
Affected: Venena

Sharos manages to choke out a few quick words, "That's 'nough... no shape to fight."
