((Blatently stolen))

"I don't like using Detect Evil, but it's necessary for my calling. Most people will say so-and-so is evil, but what they really mean is "so-and-so did something that hurt me," or "I feel so-and-so will be dangerous to me at some future date." That's when they're telling the truth; there are some who will try to convince me someone is evil just to get that innocent person out of their way."

"So I have to use the gift given to me by God to detect true evil. I've already said I don't like it, and it isn't easy. It doesn't sort the world into good and evil like sorting beans; it doesn't even sort the world into evil and not-evil. What I get is a sense of just how disgusting and horrible the world can be like."

"How do I describe it? I'll try using smell, though this isn't really smell. Close your eyes, and think back to the last time you had a really good meal, something hot and steaming, something that a loved one made for you. Try to remember what you were thinking: the anticipation of delicious food, how your hunger twinged a little more because you knew it would be sated, how you breathed deep so you could fill your nose and head with more of it's scent. It would seem so natural to tuck into that meal with enthusiasm, wouldn't it? It would be almost inhuman to think otherwise."

"Now, the last time you had to go to the latrine, or a slaughterhouse, or an offal pit, do you remember the smells? Probably not as well as you would remember the meal, and certainly not as cherished. Did you have any sense of hunger, of satiety, pleasure? No, you wanted to just do your business and leave as soon as possible. The concept of spending the whole day there would turn your stomach -- and actually eating while that rank stench pollutes your head? Impossible."

"My God has granted me the sense to "smell" the evil in men's hearts. And it is much worse than any slaughterhouse. Everyone has some smell about them, from venial sins or repressed anger. Even in my own order, we are not flawless, and it is good incentive to live by virtue just so we do not to embarrass ourselves among our peers. But when I have the misfortune of meeting the truly horrible men among us, someone whose very soul is tainted with evil acts committed and evil plans awaiting, my eyes water from the reek of darkness and my meal fights it's way up my throat to escape. It's all I can do not to find it's source and extinguish the malodorous heart by plucking it from its ribs and dashing it on the ground, just so I don't have to put up with it's terrible retching presence"

Yea, using that near us is really not a good idea. Just try intercepting and *asking* the bandit.

Is it a divine energy powered spell or a divine spell? Also I was referring to us. While self proclaim is useful I think having a glowing rune would be more useful for quantifying it. I assume that We've had a memory loss reset and have commited very few truly evil acts.

"That would be more the job of a cleric, I don't know too much about Holy spellcasting, It is just a divine power, given to me, So a bit of both."

"I have refrained from trying to sense evil around you, for I fear you may not like the answer, but then, what do I know."

You nod and ask Gallar'nt to just intercept the bandit, and he does so, jumping over you and the mech to Stand in his path.

"I had heard stories, but this is insane. that little guy is -the- Acid those bandits were talking about?"

"Acid?"

"That is what they were calling you. Said you could melt an army with just a touch, and fought like some demon of old. I had to Dress up like this and play along so they wouldn't kill me with the rest of the Troops, Most of the Guard is holed up in the castle while they try to figure out how to steal our equipment and have it still work."

"Interesting, and you are?"

"Commander Chief, first class."

> Tell him what we are up to nd ask if he wants to come along! We could use someone that can pass for one of them! If not, give him directions to the cave and how to not be attacked by our minions and promise food and protection.

Well darn. You know any openminded clerics? Man. I still wish we had some good incapacitation stuff. We could really use the boost.

"Well, I mean, even the death god clerics get a bit pissy at people defiling corpses, There ARE evil gods, and neutral ones. Maybe a Bookkeeper god's cleric?"

"I cannot encourage evil behavior, like deceiving clerics and priests, but I can help you out personally, next time I receive a message from my pen pal, she could detail the spell sigils and the like involved if you want."

"If she asked, I would have to be honest about why I need it and why you need it though."

Sounds good. If you want we could make you a woody talky and you could send it to them. From personal experience having direct contact with a specialist is always useful. We actually need it to make sure we don't get too crazy. How was the bandit even able to retrieve and maneuver the knife?

"My training is supreme, I have more knives and a number of other means of of escape. and I am not a bandit."

"Yes, that would be a fine state of affairs, I will request a set and provide materials at the next postal station."

The gang continue on, aside from a few close scrapes with other patrols, you manage to make it to the building, The night life is Booming, and Bandits are everywhere, some of them have even broken out the holoscreens, and are blaring music and are watching a number of things on the floating monitors, held up by some kind of technology. everything from Anime to Some rather saucy black and white movies are playing. they are also doing all manner of stunts involving scavenged motorcycles, atv's and the Dwarven mechs. While some are idling, the Bandits sitting on top and Conversing.

This could be a good opportunity to get intel, but this is not necessary you suppose.

You do pick out a song in the crowd that you recognize, it seems fitting to the mission, all things considered, What song is it?

You could also view one of the Holoscreens if you wanted, but this would be an unnecessary exercise in entertainment. If you do, what one do you watch?

If we see a holoscreen, we'd be watching "How it's made" to give a minor boost to our mechanical knowledge, clearly... The machines, they move so cleanly, it's kind of hypnotic...
