I'm also for muscle wizardry shenanigans and golems. We can never have too many minions.
Blood magic's cool too.

So let's see so far our list is:
Homunculi.
Alchemy.
Golum.
Blood Rituals.
Defense against the dark arts?
muscle wizardry?

Anything I miss or mistake? The ? are maybe books. Since I heard people argue against them.

I vote yes to muscle wizardry and defense against the dark arts, but no to homunculi.

((I think that the swordchucks mentioned in Alchemy are a reference to 8-bit theater))

But doing anything detailed in muscle wizardry would take magic and elbow grease, as good as the long term benefits are...
Actually, the long term benefits are pretty good.
((And i totally remember Blue dragon, only the game, though.))

Hang on, hang on, I'm going to tally all those books we are Thinking about getting.
1000...
1500...
1800...
2300...
3300...
3400...

Right, if we only go for these, we have 1200 gold left, but we should wait until we can get the second bookshelf, only if Shadestyle can be bothered, though, don't want to torture him.
Also, spells with consequence, Merel stardust...
Guys, what was that movie with the witches eating a stars heart?

"Well one of the main spells in Defense is "Re-dispel" which when cast, recasts itself automagically if you get affected with a negative effect once for every point of mana put into it.

The divination book describes both incantations and rituals that allow you to find basically anything, or at least point you in the right direction. There is one or two high level spells that let you see possible futures. it is 300.

Here is bookshelf B, for you nice folks in my head.

Cool summons for the family
Revengence spells, by Merel Stardust
The art of contingency spells
Tiny spells
The art of sustained spells
Channeling and other means of mana extension
Book of filth, and other orange magics, by Pries Omen
The art of Spliting spells
Alchemical Compounds, featuring "Stratofoam"
Time magic and other yellow magics, by Pries Omen
Destruction magic, by Merel Stardust
Fantastic manashaping 101, (over 138 projects you can do at home!)
Bartering with demons, a supplementary guide
Dimentional magics, a Primer
Unimaginable field, and other black magics, by Pries Omen
Seven hundred and sixty three, and other dark grey magics, by Pries Omen
Little and big magics, an Interdimentional guide to the elements.
Draconic magic, adapted to human vocal cords.
Silly spells, a compilation
Literally unlimited Minions, and other Blueish green spells, by Pries Omen.
The Crackpot, and it's alchemical miracle, by James Glamour
A gentleman's guide to magic
Unnamed book"

((Minmaximus is a reference, but not to anything involving goblins specifically.

Ding for Borderlands

Ding for Harry potter

Ding for blue dragon

Didn't intend the 8 bit theater one, but i will give it to you.

Metaquest at 7/13

So, let me see if i have this straight.

Golem creation: Overwhelming yes.

Alchemical sigils: Yes

Blood rituals: Maybe

Homunculi: Maybe

Pal Ed Phylactaries: Maybe

Defence against the dark arts: Maybe

Muscle magic: Maybe

Artifice: Maybe))

((This talk of of witches, stars, and hearts is making me think of Howl's Moving Castle.))

((Draconic magic, adapted to human vocal cords = Skyrim?))

((Wasn't there only one no for homunculi?))

((The art of Spliting spells = Harry Potter? Never mind this for some reason I thought it said splitting souls.))

((Also wasn't there only yeses to Blood magic/rituals?))

((If i'm mistaken about any of these things please tell me.))

Edit: I was confused.

Right, Divination, if we are going to go for golems, would be a steal at 300 gold, 900 gold left if we do that.
Sustained spells, that might be nice, price?
Channeling, price?
Tiny spells could be cool for when we might be running low on manna, price?
Manashaping, perhaps.
Little and big magics seemed like little big planet, but that just.. too opaque.
Splitting spells, description and price please?
