Wha... Why did we agree to "anything goes" in a race with Jeanne? Most of them aren't even visible... I guess, I guess they can inflict only a finite amount of physical harm if they cannot reach us, so lets just go as fast as possible...

Jeanne should be weak to electricity, if I remember correctly. The platinum sample on our staff should allow us to kill off her clones pretty easily if need be.

Actually no. She's a mercury vampire. She's weak to illusions and maybe poison.

Does it really matter what she is weak to? Everyone else is here for a race, but, I dunno, that cart of hers looks like it is loaded with homicidal maniacs just itching for an excuse. How much do weaknesses really matter when someone brings a shotgun to a chess match?

Theorizing aside, you have one of your minions hop on a cloud and give the signal.

"*Clattering noises*, *clattering noises*, *clattering noises that mean 'GO!'*."

You make an illusionary wall in front of the Jeannes, clotheslining over half of them with the immaterial structure. -3 Mana

Fairy Takes the lead, with Gallarn't close behind, you are the furthest behind, aside from the Jeannes stuck at the finish, as for some reason this vehicle is really, REALLY heavy, It will take time you might not have to build up speed...

You feed the machine mana to boost it's speed, and Try to gain altitude, but this machine has no aerofoils, or anything like that, which were sacrificed for horizontal speed due to the Aerodynamic and Fast adjectives interacting.  It is difficult to gain altitude, and even more difficult to gain the precious speed that that entails. -1 Mana

You are slowly catching up to them.

Gallarn't's sub-sonic jump peters out and he loses a lot of range making a second jump, before pulling barely ahead of you.

He performs a half-hearted sword strike, which you deflect with a metal backhand courtesy of your greygloss arm, neither of you losing much from the exchange.

Fairy maintains his current speed, which is still extremely high, Gallarn't, noting this, attempts to move that much faster to catch up.

Can we, like, shrink ourselves to reduce our weight?

If it is our vessel that keep us slowed, Then we must move beyond reliance on its propulsion alone.
Things travel easier and faster in a vacuum right? Alternatively, Guide the air and with it sand around you to increase your efficiency.
Or if you can, Just increase gravitational forces right in front of you, Or flip gravity so you are falling forwards instead.

Rubber mana could do that, and it's probably possible to keep a bit of it floating in front of us. Not sure how dramatic the increase in speed would be, but the option's there.

((Hey just out of character here, but would you guys be willing to trade a couple Scrolls of Divination in exchange for the corpse of a sunbeast?))
Pump 8 mana into the thrusters! Full speed ahead.
If it is our vessel that keep us slowed, Then we must move beyond reliance on its propulsion alone.
Actually our vessel is very good. It just sacrifices some acceleration for top speed.
EDIT: ((on a side note we're going to have to completely reenchant Gerod's body now that I've had time to look at the rules for focus and ritualism and properly exploit them.))

the corpse of a sunbeast?

Yes.
Sweet. I'll be along after the race then. Might even be able to haggle for a live one. But I'll want something really good if you want to breed them.
