Your most expensive artifact
« on: October 20, 2014, 02:30:53 pm »

As the title, what was your most expensive artifact?
Particularly early game...

My was called Scarletcacti a perfect ruby. It was encrusted with oval cut blue jade and encricled with bands of square cut rubies and single cut blue jades. Basically a very blingy gem encrusted with MOAR gems
Total value? 100800, please note this was the first artifact this fortress made, before the 2nd hard coded migrant wave...

I can normally get artifacts in the 67-105k range, without doing anything funky.

Not too hard to get stuff like a steel mail shirt or breastplate for 120-260k if you luck out with access to steel/a dorf that likes them.

I don't know about most expensive. The marble millstone with the gold decoration on it was probably the most useful, definitely the most heavy, and likely to be up there for price.

A child made a plant thread bracelet which was up there in the high price range. Totally useless. Great, a child made a friendship band out of fibre we could really be using for our desperate need for clothing? Let alone the fact that now our fort is more likely to be attacked? Thanks. But in the scheme of things, it wasn't my most expensive item.

Planestacked type items are probably the most expensive, right? I've never done that.

Candy artifacts can get up to crazy amounts.  Headshoots had one that was over 600k.

A searing metal helm. One bar of metal, and worth 120000.

I compared it to a masterwork silver war hammer, and an artifact platinum. The dwarf may move ridiculously slow, but he one-hitted a troll.

An undecorated searing metal breastplate named Stinthad Kinolin worth 900,000 dwarfbucks.

I've only had two artifacts - a camel bone coffin (decorated with camel bone bands) and a gneiss floodgate, decorated with bone and... maybe gems?

Neither were that pricey, but the floodgate showed the founding of my civ!  :D

Sadly, both moods were possessions...

Just got a steel sword and steel shield with images of each other on them. Definitely pairing these two together.

heh that's awesome, so the sword has an image of the shield, and the shield has an image of the sword...
so basically one is an image of x which has an image of y on it, which has a smaller image of x and so on

...What, were they made at the same time somehow? Is the sword's image really an image of some other shield in your civilization that your shield was based on? How does this even happen? ._.
