Notes of Neblime, Prison warden, spring 1052
After graduating from the academy in the mountainhomes as a qualified prison warden, I am finally being sent on my first
assignment, to a prison called angelfear. A newly founded prison, my task is to bring it up to the exacting standards of
the mountainhome With great excitement I joined a small procession of guards and prisoners making the trek
and arrived on the first of granite the year 1052.
First thing I see is some kind of horiffic humanoid panther locked in melee with a few dwarves. as we approached the
panther transformed into a human and was promptly beaten to death.
somewhat in shock, I enquired as to who was in charge, so I could inform them of my mission, it turned out the answer was
no one.
The first thing I noticed, even before the werepanther, upon arrival was the stench of an enormous garbage heap, I
ordered it thrown into the river immediately. A bunch of 20 or so dishevelled dwarves came up from below and started
dumping rubbish over the side. Asking a guard who they were he said they are the prisoners! I quickly ordered them back
down and ordered the guards to keep them there. It seems that no one around here is aware that prisoners have to stay IN
the prison. How anyone has not escaped from this place yet I do not know.
the guards set about dumping the rubbish and I continued my inspection.
I was horrified to discover that the guards share quarters with the prisoners, and I am expected to as well!
I ordered the construction of some rudimentary dwellings for the guards and myself on the surface until we can build
something better.
I also found out the guards have no barracks or meeting place in which to organize themselves!
For now their barracks, messhall and dormitory will have to be in the same building. I will build offices for myself
and the poor unfortunate manager of this place upstairs.
I found out that not only do the guards sleep among the prisoners, their WEAPONS Are stored where any prisoner can make a grab at them!
I set about fixing this immediately
A few days into my stay, it started raining blood. blood. falling from the sky.
I thought the soil just had a natural red tint, turns out it's just constantly soaked in blood.
I knew my first assignment would be a challenge, but come on, this is ridiculous!
