Dark tiles (Solved).
« on: October 18, 2014, 04:52:04 am »

I've already posted this in a different thread but it didn't get a response and is starting to really bother me. So I've just reclaimed the capital in a world where dwarves went extinct in year 24 at the hands of a titan. Currently reclaiming and reorganizing the stockpile level but one of the storerooms is permanently black even after I've explored it. How do I fix this without breaking other things? I love this. In three pages we've gone from being willing to eat intelligent beings, to trying to make them *more* intelligent, so it will be more fun to eat them.

Nope that didn't fix it. Some of the tiles are revealed for some reason but most aren't. I can still see what items are in a dark square if I hover over it. http://puu.sh/cgVmH/3da88808dc.png

Hmm it seems to actually be an issue with certain items not having the right sprite. For example I found 2 more dark squares above ground and both of them have a single stack of willow bolts. This explains why some tiles in that room appear normal, they either have no items on them or don't have one of the types that cause this. http://puu.sh/cgVOI/0649884863.jpg

Aha! I figured it out, it's an issue with Text will be Text. Changing the printmode to TWBT_LEGACY fixed it and restored normal icons. Hopefully the thread helps out anyone else having this problem. http://puu.sh/cgWbt/e3de560680.png

Cool, thanks!  i know this has been an issue for others, and even showed up in Roomcarnage (that was blamed on the vampires, though)

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

There isn't much middle ground between killed-by-dragon and never-seen-by-dragon.
