This is probably just the edgy "try to get in the mainstream news" trailer that's trying to be as unlikable as possible, and then later it'll turn out to just be score attack Hotline Miami through an emo lens. On the one hand, I really liked Hotline Miami, and am surprised more similar games haven't come out, but on the other, that trailer is just so obnoxious.

Sadly, if the most reliable source of the internet, the YouTube comments, are to be believed, the CEO is a Polish nationalist. Of the type I'm familiar with. And if that's the case, it's played 100% straight.

Not sure how Postal 1 was self-aware or really sort of humorous, what with the guy being inflicted by a madness in his head constantly pushing him to kill.

I guess they're trying to be avant garde. Of course there are currently plenty of games out there that enable one to fantasize being a mass murderer, such as GTA, Payday, and Postal, but wuddeva'.

God damn. There were so many ways they could have made a berserk rampage interesting, and it seems like they were determined to avoid them. Demonic possession. Collateral damage for a quasi-legitimate target. Specific grievances of any manner whatsoever.

Maybe it's a nested image of itself. The CEO got sick of everyone thinking that just because he believes in national pride and racial purity he's some kind of berserk animal, so he went on a pointless, nihilistic crusade to produce a mocking game of what everyone saw him as, but because pointless nihilistic crusades don't accomplish anything the message was entirely lost on the worms that despise him.

See? You can make things interesting if you want them to be interesting.

Apparently, it's aiming to "buck the trend" of politically correct indie games aiming to be art. Not sure how I feel about that. Anyway, if I want a dose of nihilistic ultra-violence, I'll wait for Hotline Miami 2 first.
