Sure, a mechanic and a gunner should do OK together.

Only USEC, Adwarf and Strife were pre-war tankmans. The rest of you dudes are standard citizenry! You could've been a non-military mechanic though.

Anyways, Elf and Asea are into partner now, so I'll get your first turn up in a minute.

E: NOT saying you guys won't get a tank at some point.

The heart of the megacity is silent, the buildings dark. Their angular, featureless faces stretch miles into the sky. Here and there at mostly even intervals are curbies1, silent in their charging cradles. You're dirty, exhausted and on the verge of starving. After living together off of grass and bugs for years on the highways you finally started to run out of tricks. The continent is changing, and it's no longer just the coast that's dead anymore.

You raided the first military supply hack2 you could find. It took Owen nearly a week just to break the encryption on the wire-towed container. The take was disappointing, but there could be no more waiting. You headed into the megacity.

You're both walking along the sidewalk. It's been decades since either of you set foot more than a block into a city, you're not sure what you're hoping to find..

You're both very hungry, you need food. What do you look for?

1 taxi cabs operated by dumb AI that travel on fixed routes (because of this they have no driver's seat and if one needs to be moved independently for maintenance reasons a special controller is needed), almost all traffic was automated in the Cities; a colloquial that comes from the fact that they, atypically, only have a single door on the left (curb) side; the same phrase is sometimes used interchangeably for the curbside chargers they typically reside in when not in use

2 a catch-all term for automated vehicles like cabs, lorries and helicopters

Hey, so it is. Glad this is getting back off the ground.

On bay12, a poll option of basically 'nuke the world' named 'Apocalypse Hitler' is like asking an alcoholic if they want some whiskey.

"Edges, edges are good, right? So are shadows... Into the shadows at the edge then... Perhaps theres gonna be another supply hack, one less shit that that one... Still, I think it may be slightly easier to open another..."
Shadows, keep low, head on a swivel, gun ready with round in chamber but safed, etc. etc.

There's always the occasional busted supply hack on the highways, they're a bitch to get into though. Low electric security (you were mostly out of practice having not touched a computer in ages) and built like tanks. There's never any need to transport processed food however, so not a chance of finding any of that in a supply hack. Most nourishment comes in the form of artificially constructed nutrients, blocks of rations wrapped in paper. They're made en masse in factories dedicated to a particular city and distributed. There are also special compact machines that do the same job for soldiers in the field.

Plausible but highly unlikely. Then again Hank does have luck!

"A hack would be nice..." His stomach grumbles. "But shouldn't we find some food first? Maybe there is a warehouse, or some other storage nearby? He crouches by Everret, "Your call though.

Hanks smiles "Sure would, I like having a warm fire at night." he chuckles at the strained look on Everret's face. "Alright, were do we plan on going first? We could check someplace for a map."
