Also, you can switch between Sims quickly with the space bar. We all want to see ourselves, I'm sure.

  Also, when taking stuff out of your backpack, holding the shift or control button while LMB will allow you to pick up stacks of that item.  The blue triangle in the top left corner of the item allows you to pick up the whole stack.
