-This is a PBP game hosted on this very forum. This is the OOC thread, obviously, keep IC comments in the IC thread which will be started when we have 5 players with accepted sheets.

-Try to refrain from power gaming too terribly much. If you aren’t sure, Ask the DM.

-When you create your character [on Mythweavers if possible] please put the following in the “Additional Information” box.
    -When you prepare spells [if applicable]
   -Your feelings towards each of the major factions. You are not a member, officially, of any of them at the start of the game.
    -A Letter and color that will represent you on the battlemap.

-We are using a 28 point buy system. Use this to make sure your points are properly allocated.

-You are given free reign with the Player’s Handbook [1 and 2], Complete Warrior, Libris Mortis, Heroes of Horror, Tomb of Battle: Book of Nine Swords, and the Dungeon Master’s guide. If you want something else it requires GM approval (Send a link if you can).

-You get free +LA adjustment based on your class tier. If you choose not to use this free +LA adjustment on a race, you may instead add it to your ability score. Mouse over This for more information. If you would prefer some other compensation you are free to discuss this with your DM.

-If you do not use LA available to you, you may increase your stats by 1 point per LA. So a Tier 3 character may have a +2 template OR add up to +2 points to any stat or +1 to two stats.

-There are no multiclass penalties.

-You can have TWO flaw and traits if you so wish but you must include what they do or your character will be considered incomplete.

-Your character starts with the average amount of gold for your class.

-You start at Level 1

-You get Max HD at 1st level. Further levels will be rolled by the DM.

-Reserved spots only last two days. After a day has passed your “reserved” spot will become unreserved. Your reserve is renewed if you post something indicating some form of progress with your character sheet.

You will see enemies health described as percentages instead of stated outright.

Post Etiquette
-Posting OOC comments in the IC thread will dock your character 1xp. Further breaking of this rule will double the penalty. (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, etc. etc.)

-If you want to see how you action ends up but retain your turn for remaining actions simply post “Actions I’m taking. Resolve” and I will resolve the actions you have taken but it will still be your turn. So you may type “Move to X3. Resolve” and you will move to X3 and still be able to attack or some other action. If you do not type “Resolve” your turn will be considered complete.

-If you want to keep doing the same action type “Actions I want to take. Eternal”. Your character will then repeat the action or the gist of action to the best of their ability.

-If, during combat, you take more than 2 days to post your turn the DM will have force your character to act. This is to keep the game moving.

-If you want to time-skip or wait please type “Wait for X amount of time” in the IC thread.

Classes
-Paladin casting is based on Charisma.

-Paladin’s ‘Smite Evil’ uses is now doubled [2/day at Level 1] and gains an extra use every two levels [3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19].

-Paladins may now multi-class without penalty.

-Paladins gain access to Domains.

-All classes who normally gain 2+Int skill points gain 4+Int skill points. Other classes are not affected.

Skills
-You gain skill points retroactively if you boost your intelligence modifier.

-Untrained Knowledge Skills will give vague information on a DC10+.

-Crafting mundane items takes 1 hour per 50gp in the base price. Aside from that it follows normal crafting rules.

Leveling Up
-When a character levels up you most post the following in the OOC Thread: “I am taking a Level in _____. I gained # Skill points and placed them _____. I gained (Class Features, Spells, Abilities, etc. etc.). And I gained (# of HP)” If you do your own HP rolls you must provide a link proving it.

-There are no multiclass penalties.

-You may take an alternate class feature if you multiclass in two classes with the same class features. [The alternate Class feature is up to the Player and the DM to decide]

-Experience Gain is increased by x1.5 due to the nature of PbP taking forever.

 -Fractional BAB gains are in effect. Low/Med/High BAB gaining classes gain +1/2 // +3/4 // +1 per level in the respective classes. The same rules apply for Save gains.

-Commoners who become relevant to your party [as honorary party members or something similar] start with -100xp. When they reach 0xp they become either an Adept, Warrior, or Expert. Then based upon the NPC when they reach 500xp they become a PC class.

-Players and NPCs can gain experience through training. They gain 10xp per day [6 hours] of unsupervised training.

-Players and NPCs can gain experience through training. If they are being trained by someone with a higher level than them with a similar class [IE. A Wizard 5 training a Sorcerer 4. Both are arcane classes] they gain 20xp per day.

-Players and NPCs can gain experience through training. If they are being trained by someone with the same class as them [IE. A Fighter training a Fighter] they gain 50xp a day.

-A trainer uses their highest Class Level of the most similar class for training purposes. A Wizard 5, Fighter 2, Cleric 1 training a Wizard 4 will be considered a Wizard 5 for training purposes. You cannot train someone who is equal level with you.

-You can gain weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies through training. In order to do this you must choose to train [6 hours] with the weapon in question. Unlike normal training you gain no experience for this but have instead have a 1% cumulative chance to gain proficiency. Every time you train a D% is rolled. Once you roll the proper number you are proficient with the item. [Example: You trained for 24 hours total with a weapon so you have a 4% chance of becoming proficient. You roll a d% and receive 5. You are not proficient with that weapon.] You roll for proficiency at the end of your training. You may not train with multiple items at once.

Poisons and Alchemical Weapons
-Crits with poison increase the DC by x1.3 [Poison crits only on a Natural 20]

-Sneak Attacks increase Poison DC by +2 for every extra d6 you do otherwise [1d6 Sneak Attack = +2 Poison DC. 2d6 Sneak Attack = +4 Poison DC etc. etc.]

-Alchemical Weapons without a DC simply have normal Sneak and Crit bonuses.

-4 Ranks in “Craft (Poison)” prevents you from poisoning yourself. Crafting Poisons follows similar rules to normal crafting.

Spell Casting
-The following Cantrips and Orisons can be cast an unlimited amount of times and do not require a spell slot to use: Arcane Mark, Know Direction, Prestidigitation, Summon Instrument,

Duelist

Prerequisites: Weapon Finesse, Dodge, Dex 15

Benefit: You gain a +2 Dodge bonus to AC as well as a +1 competence bonus to attack rolls while wielding a one handed weapon melee weapon while your off-hand remains empty. Equipping a shield or another weapon in your off hand negates this bonus. Furthermore you can add your strength or your dexterity to damage rolls [whichever is higher].

Expert Duelist

Prerequisites: Duelist, +6 BAB, Dex 17

Benefit: You gain an additional +2 Dodge bonus to AC, an additional +1 to attack rolls, and your crit range increased by 1 [20 > 19-20] while wielding a one handed melee weapon. These bonuses are lost if you equip a shield or another weapon in your off hand.

Master Duelist

Prerequisites: Expert Duelist, +11 BAB, Dex 19

Benefit: You gain an additional +2 Dodge bonus to AC, an additional +1 to attack rolls, and your critical multiplier is increased by 1 [x2 > x3] while wielding a one handed melee weapon. These bonuses are lost if you equip a shield or another weapon in your off hand. In addition, if a creature of your size or less attacks you with a one handed weapon and the resulting attack roll [after modifiers] is less than your AC by at 5 or more you may make an attack of opportunity versus that enemy. This attack of opportunity does not count towards your normal limit of Attacks of Opportunity.

Deflect Rays

Prerequisites: Dex 13, Improved Unarmed Strike

Benefit: You must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to use this feat. Once per round when you would normally be hit with a spell that has a touch ranged attack, you may deflect it so that you take no damage from it. You must be aware of the attack and not flatfooted.

Attempting to do so does not count as an action. Spells without touch attack status or that have metamagic applied to them cannot be deflected.

Spoiler: Campaign Pantheon and Major Factions (click to show/hide)

A peaceful world spanning coalition of baronies referred to as The Empire. Inclusive almost to a fault members of all races are accepted into The Empire. The most populace group within Nevendaar they spent many generations in a world filled with peace.

However, seven months ago, a great infernal rift opened in the heart of Empire territory. From this rift poured innumerable demons and devils who slaughtered all living things within their path. The handful of survivors were able to warn surrounding towns and, eventually, Emperor Demosthene himself.

After six months of failed attempts to close the gates and six months filled with slaughter of innocent civilians the Baron of Lyes has started a rebellion. With both the rebellion and infernal invasion at their door step the Emperor is desperate for anyone to assist with quelling either problem.

The Empire is watched over by The Highfather. Though he did not create them, he has taken to protecting them for some reason that is not abundantly clear. He is known for his great passions: Mercy, Anger, Lust, Celibacy, Sorrow, Joy. All of these and more are felt by The Highfather on a magnitude greater than any mortal could comprehend. The Six domains most associated with The Highfather are: Air, Good, Healing, Knowledge, Luck, and Sun.

Headed almost exclusively by Hubert DeCuzak, a faithful of the Empire and Baron of Lyes, it is intent on ridding the Empire of the Emperor and replacing him with a non-heretic. Hubert DeCuzak is largely the one who is responsible for The Rebellion. They claim to have the Empire’s greater good at heart and believe Demosthene to be part of one of the numerous demonic cults.

Many in the Empire have begun flocking to The DeCuzak Rebellion as they have been frantically fighting both demon and Empire forces in equal number. However, even those within the DeCuzak Rebellion cannot claim to know the end goal of Hubert DeCuzak.

The DeCuzak Rebellion is watched over, as with all humans, by The Highfather. It is unknown why he supports them despite their rallying against his appointed son Demosthene. Many believe that it is due to his great passions or perhaps a great love of humanity itself as opposed to the Empire. Regardless of the cause, what is known is that The Highfather has been felt protecting both sides of the DeCuzak Rebellion, sometimes in the same battle. The Six domains most associated with The Highfather are: Air, Good, Healing, Knowledge, Luck, and Sun.

The colloquial name of the Morun-Nurenti-Dwars which is loosely translated at The Mountain Dwarves. This contains the entirety of Nevendaar’s dwarven population. The Clans are comprised of twelve clans which is comprised of one hundred families each. They are one of the least populace races on Nevendaar but are by far the most powerful warriors and are uncanny merchants. This second fact has allowed the Dwarves to bind a great many species to them including giants, trolls, Halflings, orcs, and goblins to name but a few.
While they prize honor above all else the dwarves of the clan enjoy battle and their ancestors. For many generations the Mountain Clans enjoyed economic boom after economic boon. Then the High King Morok Cloudkeeper’s son Gymner was given a prophecy in a dream by the god Wotan. It told of a coming Ragnarok which would destroy all that the Mountain Clans had earned and that the dwarves themselves would be swept aside like leaves in the wind. Their generations long piece was shattered as great Dwarvern Armies rallied to scour the land for the Ancestral Runes, the only force that would prevent Ragnarok.

The Mountain Clans are cared for by Wotan, Keeper of the Eternal Forge. While most gods take a removed position in the affairs of their creations it is said that Wotan shapes every dwarf’s life by hand. As a god he is noted for his particular love of the current High King of the Clans. It was Wotan who crafted the Ancestral Runes and he who seeks to prevent Ragnarok from taking the dwarves. He is known to despise Gallean, for it was Gallean who sent Elven Armies into the Mountain Clan territories. It was he who slew Gallean and tossed his heart into the Sun. The Six Domains most associated with Wotan are: Earth, Good, Protection, Strength, War and Water.

Wotan’s favorite weapon is the Warhammer.

Similar in appearance to Humans, save for their vampiric fangs, the Alkmaar are considered peaceful and well skilled in the arts of sorcery. Some theorize they are the last remaining humans outside of the Empire. Their most well known cultural aspect is their reverence of the dead. Skilled or wise Alkmaary Elders would be ritually sacrificed and their bodies preserved. These ritually created undead would be consulted during every day matter and during times of great need. For many generations the Alkmaary lived to the east of The Empire. Their only contact with the outside world were brief trips into Empire territory during which they would trade various items they had crafted. Recently, however, a great plague has swept through their lands leaving very few alive. Even High Priest Ashgan has been affected. With his death, and resurrection into the Undead Horde, it falls to his daughter Asgruul to protect the Alkmaar during their time of need.

The Alkmaar are protected by a conglomerate of undead Alkmaary Elders referred to as The Ancestors. Merged together to form a sort of Superspirit they watch after their progeny at all times. Though they are not truly a deity they are enough of one for the Alkmaar. The six domains normally associated with The Ancestors are: Chaos, Death, Knowledge, Law, Magic, and Trickery.

Comprised entirely of bodies that have been raised by the Alkmaary Plague created by the Goddess Mortis. They march unanimously to some unknown goal. They have been known to slaughter entire villages as well as assisting other villages during times of need at seemingly random. While the Horde appears to have a particular hatred of dwarves most other species are able to spy on the Horde without any problem. Elves, in particular, are granted something of amnesty by the horde who rarely attack until provoked. While not all undead are part of the horde it is, by far, the largest gathering of undead ever seen in Nevendaar.

The Undead Hordes were created by Mortis, the Goddess of Life. Once known for her great beauty; her flesh has been melted away by the heat of the sun after she dove into the flames to save her lover Gallean after Wotan slew him and tossed his heart into the sun to prevent his ressurection. The Six domains normally associated with Mortis are:  Chaos, Death, Destruction, Healing, Law, and Travel.

Within The Empire there were numerous small sects devoted to The Dark One: Bethrezan. True creator of humanity and Nevendaar it was he who had been betrayed by the many angels of the Highfather. When granted the gift of creation by The Highfather, Bethrazan set to work. Eager to craft something grand for both The Highfather and his fellow angels he asked each god and angel to add something to Nevendaar. As they sat crafting Bethrazan set out to show the Highfather his creation.

During his brief absence the angels, jealous of Bethrezan’s favored position by the Highfather, set out to sabatoge his creation. When The Highfather cast his gaze upon Nevendaar he saw millions slaughtered by eternal wars and great oceans of flame. In his towering rage at the mockery Bethrezan had made of the gift of Creation The Highfather banished Bethrezan into an infernal prison for eternity.

For six thousand years Bethrezan has plotted his revenge. Crafting countless demons he sent them through small fissures in his prison to convince humans to assist in releasing him. Seven months ago, they began their plot.

As the Infernal Rift opened in the heart of Empire territory Bethrezan sent his great armies to secure that which he needed to walk the lands of Nevendaar.

The Legions of the Damned were created by The Dark One: Bethrezan. He is the original creator of both Nevendaar and Humans. His great love for creation and the Highfather have not wavered in his time inside the Infernal Planes. Yet his mind has been twisted by the tortures felt there. He plans to escape his prison and destroy Nevendaar. With his goal completed he will reforge a new world, one which will gain him the Highfather’s love once more. The Six domains normally associated with Bethrezan are: Destruction, Evil, Fire, Luck, Trickery, and War.

Bethrezan’s favored weapon is the Greatsword.

Gallean: Former lover of Mortis and eternal enemy of Wotan. He cares greatly for all living things and is the creator of the Elves. When great famines began occurring with Elven lands millions of refugees attempted to enter The Mountain Clans territories. Mistaken for invaders they were all slaughtered. Attempting to speak with Wotan, Gallean met a similar fate. Mistaken for an assassination attempt Wotan slew him and threw his heart into the sun to prevent his eventual resurrection. The Six domains most often associated with Gallean are: Animal, Earth, Good, Healing, Plant, and Sun.

Tanuata: The weakest of the gods he is the father of a great number of races. While each thing he creates often withers and dies he is seen as the patron deity of Orcs, Goblins, Trolls, Ogres, and insectoids. He is lazy in his approach and is the most distant god to the races he created. He is often thought of as a poor god as he often gives up on a task halfway through which leads to poor results. It is thought that the races he has created were meant to mimic Bethrezan’s humans in an attempt to gain the attention of the Highfather. The six domains often associated with Tanuata are: Animal, Chaos, Luck, Magic, Trickery, and War. His favored weapon is the Dagger.

Mithria: An ugly and disgusting god who mutilates themselves eternally in an attempt to gain beauty. She believes that deeds are the only true beauty and the only way to show your beauty is through sacrifice. Members of any race can worship Mithria however she is responsible for a great many abominations and views them as the pinnacle of beauty. Those who worship Mithria often carve a small moon upon their cheek to show their devotion. The six domains often associated with Mithrai are: Death, Destruction, Good, Law, Protection and Strength.

Dorogon: Once a mere mortal his desire for power has elevated him into the pantheon. He is the creator of Dragons and the cause of their name. None have ever fought him and lived. He is currently believed to be seeking a way to steal Bethrezan’s power to create worlds for himself. He is a jealous demigod and seeks to become equal to the Highfather. The six domains often associated with Dorogon are: Air, Destruction, Evil, Fire, Magic, and Strength.
