Nunchuks are merely wooden staves with rope in between - it takes REAL skill to incapacitate an opponent with those, not just your green "hack em up" steel cleaver squads...  Real dwarven Kung Fu masters can dodge such clumsy attempts and have fists as solid as stone!

in the process of writing the full post now.

screenshots are all done, year is done, there is only one male dwarf in the mountain.

The fort is called Regaval, "Glovedloved". The expidition party is aptly named "The Famous City".

things go very slow in the beginning. to distribute ALL THE LABORS between seven dwarves is kind of a challenge, as is establishing a slum with the very limited amount of recources the migrants get. but the glorious founding of the mountainfort is done.

peasants are currently still willing to help establish the fort, becuase the great visionary nordinkel held a very inspirational speech to them, about "challenge" and "competition". i wonder how long this positive mentality will prevail.

EDIT: Bob and skulls, i like you.i made some notes from those ideas.

I'm astonished by the great feedback and motivation. normally i have huge problems with actually executing creative ideas but you guys keep me going. thx for that.

It's why I keep shooting forum games through here: Once you get past the learning cliff, your players are too devoted to the game to quit, so they're forced to get creative to keep from being jaded.  Also, except for one or two, most of us are quite literate and even poly-linguists, which requires a certain amount of fore-thought and dedication as well.

How did you manage that? I think the worst spread I ever got had at least two to five odds.

i am on it right now, medic and chimerat.

this is what takes the longest, actually.

of course i won't leave that little detail about the harem fortress out.

did i mention that 4 of the six women have clean-shaved hair?

tonnot and Njneko got wavy hair, all the others are bald. no exception.

Well, of course, to head out into the world we must be!

As for Chimerat, that's obviously so it doesn't fall into the food/brew! :P

only the baldest of dwarves are bold enough for kingship.

also, burrows are buggy as hell and require an assload of micromanagement.
some dwarves seem to have problems with job cancellations that occur in the thousands. Only letting them through stops the unending cancellations with dwarves standing on one single tile infinitely. we probably have to assign every single stockpile to a specific workshop or find a different solution altogether.

Depending on what's been done by my turn, I'd planned on tackling that issue if it was still around.

I was continuing my reading of Spearbreakers this morning and I realised I'd forgotten to ask: we're supposed to do journals and stuff, right? :D

Oh, had another question.  Which exploits are verboten for this challenge?

Water reactors?
Quantum Stockpiles?
Impulse Ramps?
Gainful Metal Crafting?
Danger Rooms?
Coinstar Rooms?
Shaft of Enlightenment?
