They are. They where made before the rule. They are almost explicitly 40k Space Marines. If you are talking about the "Paladin" name, it was a real title. Ever read the Song of Roland?

Well I am the God of weapons who has shown not to be fond of armor. The Seppo are blobs, and the Armu are masses of tentacles. Neither of my races can wear armor. Why would they be good at making it?

Besides, weapons are kinda useless without armor, and vice versa, past a certain point. What's the point of advancing to guns when bows suit ya just fine for killing, if no one's wearing armor to block the bow? Why would you need bunker buster missiles, if there weren't any bunkers? AP rounds are less than useless if the enemies aren't wearing armor.

Face it: Having armor around gives you more variety and more drive.
