Considering 284 TJ of brute force only made the thing flinch, you might want to try a plan with more finesse. Since we know very little of this enemy, I don't have any plans doable by a God of Weapons that could actually work, so the name of the game right now is to slow it down until Serac or some other decides to go bookworm and learn this thing's weaknesses.

The cultists stole all the books in the library a little bit ago. Besides, it *did* make it flinch. I could always try a trident II missile, 23,880 TJ. The nuke I fired was just a really large artillery shell, even small bombs are tones bigger. The biggest would be the Tzar bomb, 210,000 TJ. With just a bit of help, the holly nuke would devastate it. One point from Yaos, Cim, the water God, and me with a high-yield nuke and we would at least drive the thing away. And that is less than we have spent fighting the demons.

For the curios and the bored, using Andre's math, a billion humans (62 * 1 billion=62000000000) would have to travel 277 m/s to reach the energy of a titan II, over 600 MPH and just under the speed of sound. It would have to travel 8230 m/s to get up to the Tzar bomb. For just the 3 million, they would have to go 5067 m/s just for the Titan II, and 47,519 m/s to catch up to the Tzar.

Humans make poor ammunition, compared to nukes.

Since I'm not getting any sleep anyway, I think I'll post.

What if, on impact, the Humans' souls detonated? I remember at one point a Human died his soul or something blew up and killed 200 people. Is there any way to factor that into an equation?

Wait, when did that happen? Anyway, yes, depending on the yield of the explosion. 186,000,000 kg of TNT size explosion(2.8 megaJ/kg)=5.20*10^14, 520.8 TJ. About twice that of the artillery shell I fired. Well, that is assuming that every kg of human is equal to one kg of TNT, I am not sure if exploding souls would scale to weight. Anyway, if they where nuclear, they would be the same 25TJ/kg, again assuming that the souls are somehow related to weight, would be 4,650,000,000 TJ, 4.65 × 10^21 joules. For comparison, that is enough to blow up a particularly small planet. Like, completely, with it never ever going back together.

That is assuming that you, as god of humans, see no problem sacrificing millions for what could be done easier by me.

I have 25/25 essense after using 5 this tick. Is this legit?
Forgot to deduct that one; fixed on local copy now.
(And I got sig'd! :) )

The exploding souls thing was an isolated incident where someone booby trapped something and lots of people died. If normal souls did that on death, most of the worlds' land area would be unusable in a very short time.

If normal souls did that on death, most of the worlds' land area would be unusable in a very short time.
So let's say we have about 10 million sapients living on one planet based on how many were created and population growth since then. (I'm guessing the actual population is probably lower than that but I'm being conservative.) Each of the planets was supposed to be Earth-like so let's say they have the same amount of land at 149 million kilometres squared. To make most of the world's land area unusable would mean making at least a little more than 50% of it unusable. To round off, let's say that would mean making 149,000,000/2 = 74.5 million kilometres squared worth of land unusable. That would mean that 10 million sapients are capable of destroying 74.5 million km^2 of land at an average of 7.45km^2 of land destroyed per soul. I don't know much about explosives but a blast radius of 7.45km^2 sounds like a lot to me. Is it a lot?

So let's say we have about 10 million sapients living on one planet based on how many were created and population growth since then, but the actual population is still probably lower than that. To make most of the world's land area unusable would mean making at least a little more than 50% of it unusable. Wait, are you arguing that souls have been exploding this entire time and we just haven't noticed? No, he is right. If every person dies explodes powerful enough to kill 200 people, then the world would be unusable. The ticks may take a century, remember, even with TNT sized blasts we wouldn't have anything left.

I guess I overshot on that one, but think of it as a large additional term dependent on the death rate affecting the death rate, and keep in mind the fact that people won't just live anywhere they want in the long-term without some adaptation of environmental modification.

In other words, the most desirable, populated areas will be hit the hardest.

Can I borrow essence from Artisanii and Taol, seeing as I sealed them away? Or is that not something that can happen?

Great. Could you at least pay back the essence I spent to seal you? I saved your life.

I can see it now. Fusil will start a life insurance company thing with the help of Tykki, except customers will have to pay to revive.

I don't know what this means so I'll just ignore it.

In other words, the most desirable, populated areas will be hit the hardest.
Based on this list of cities by population density, I've calculated that you'd need a bomb that has a blast radius of at least 11 metres to kill 200 people in Athens. A grenade has a fatality radius of 5 metres and an injury radius of 15 metres, so a soul bomb is at least twice as powerful as a fragmentation grenade, and that's not considering that a frag grenade is specifically designed to kill people (via fragmentation), so we can also expect a soul bomb to be a bit more explosive to make up for that, but unfortunately there's no way to calculate that let's just say it has a blast radius of 11m^2. Athens is still pretty dense compared to most cities in the world so the blast radius might be higher still but again, there's no way to reliably calculate that.

This section was made 3 months later on the 25th of February, 2015 because I forgot the original equation and I had to start again from scratch to remember it. This time, I'll record it so the equation is not forgotten.

Athens:
Population: 664,046
Area: 38.964 km^2
Density(m^2) = Population/Area(m^2). 664,046/38,964 = 17.04 per m^2

200(people who died)/17.04 = 11.737. Therefore, a soul bomb will kill 200 people in a city with a population density of 17.04 people per metre squared, requiring the blast area to be 11.737 metres squared. This was rounded down to 11 metres. However, this is for blast area rather than blast radius as mentioned above. I got the two terms mixed up previously, thinking there was no difference. 11.737 divided by pi is about 3.736, giving it a smaller kill radius than a grenade.

argh why are we even discussing a one-time special case where someone got some mages to booby trap his soul

Because math homework is boring and I need an excuse to make myself not do it.

Also: Next time a god slumbers, I am totally making them into a gun and keeping them on my person at all times. Don't know why I hide them when that seems much more practical.

Making a god into a gun: OK, but that competes with at least one other planned automated action
