The hall leading to the library is dark, as they all are here, but this one seems considerably moreso, somehow. Almost tangibly dark...
It terminates in a simple door, hewn of stone. And what's this? You hear something from behind it. A scuttling of countless legs scrambling against earth and a flurry of wings, perhaps? Or maybe pages being turned quickly? A smaller offspring of the fall you'd seen earlier? Many of these, or something else?

Whatever it is, it seems to have noticed you, as the sound dies away into silence at your approach.

Ava reached up and bit her thumb, holding out the injured digit. As the blood dripped off, ice crackled and formed into the shape of an animal - one of the snuffling snow-badgers of the north.

Ari doesn't like countless legs, it brings back bad memories - and he doesn't trust people who can read faster than him.

"Sounds like trouble... Come on lads, here's a little ditty I wrote to keep yer spirits up..."

Osirio shrugged, not willing expend his own resources on what they were not even sure was an enemy-yet.

"Are we even sure this is something to be worried about? It could be the nothing...

...Ah, anyway-come on out, you! Osirio does not play the games."

He stepped forward, banging his shield with his flail and generally making himself a target.

Action: Enter boldly and announce Osirio's presence!

Ava stepped out next to him, flanked by her beast of ice.

"Are we even sure this is something to be worried about? It could be the nothing..."

"It's something that reads right quick, Osirio. Course it ain't the nothing... It could be books on legs or all sorts or worse."

"Vhatever it is can and vill die."

Culpa, following the group, touches the head of his Light Flail as it begins shedding light as a torch.

With their preparations finished, the party sets forth into the Library. At first, all seems normal enough. A number of books, a hearth long cold, a few chairs, and scattered around, a few smoking pipes. But then, the thing in the room rears its head. You might have expected more bats, or insects, or an insane mage, but instead the danger comes from the books themselves! They fling themselves from their shelves and twist as they hit the grown. Eight long, arachnoid legs emerge from within the pages, and scuttle about. Soon, they seem to resolve themselves into three distinct swarms.

Also, flail smash on the closest one. Unless my arcana check shows thats a bad idea.

"Books? I'll kill zhem!" Ava said wittily, slamming her hammer on the ground a a challenge

She and her ice beast Badger she had summoned, charged together at one of the swarms.

Ari didn't quip, because he was still very busy mumbling something about "smack those feckin' books, boyos, like the Bantosh of Offersam slew the Marigold of the Depths..."

Don't stop chanting. Move to protect Culpa's rear such that neither of us can be flanked.
