Scandinavia sends aid

Our allies in the east needs help. And Scandinavia always aids its allies. Several universites studies ways to improve the storage and durability of food. In the future this technologies will be used to create a food reserve in the case of a crisis. But right now this food is sent to Nav, not for free of-course, but to a decent price. Regarding the translational railway Sweden also sends its very best Iron to the construction-site, aswell as workers, both engineers and constructions-workers. The Railway will be protected by the parts of the standing army in Sweden. The majority of the army will however stay in Poland to make sure that our new territories are pacified.

Also offer Joint training operations with Jägarförbanden and whatever elit-units NAV what to create. In hope of making our countries even closer, and improving our armies.

Another wheel in the Scandinavian economy
Scandinavia is realising several patients on many parts of cars to the public in her lands with the hops of kick-starting the Vehicle industry (yes, we do have those, I have done actions behind the scenes...), after the improvments of roads and infrastructure last year that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, and I agree with Ebbor that it whould be useful to have some kind of asset list. I will post my own, and GM will have to yell at me if I have had something wrong.

Scandinavian public Assets

Civil assets
Oil
Iron
Coal
Developed industries in the resource gathering sector.
Small Civilian Economy
Decent infrastructure
Schools: Swedish 101
Knowledge how to build a proper car

Military Assets

Military traditions
Naval Traditions
Experienced army- The new kind of warfare.
Elite-light infantry
Scandinavian machine-gun
Ministery of Espionage
Military Academy.

a1s, if you need a loan, the Rordalian National Bank could provide one.
also, ebbor, could I possibly purchase 80mm guns to arm my own subs with from you? I could provide my long-range rifles in return, or possibly just cash, although I don't know how monetary payments would work in this game.

Operation Red Mountain
(tactics PMed to GM)
We Come in Peace
Diplomatic missions will be sent to the South American states and North America, seeking to establish friendly relations with them and see if they have any technology or resources worth trading for.
Scoped In
Research at the Royal Military Academy will be focused on making devices that, like the telescope, allow people to see farther and better with the Mark I eyeball, but can also be mounted on the new rifle. Work will also be done to make implements that serve the same purpose as a telescope, but are less expensive and fragile (binoculars, probably).

Update tomorrow, I can't write the update now.  Just saying, unless otherwise stated, there is a free market going on in the background of all your nations.  If you override the free market, you'll have to restart it again, unless it is like the production of a new plastics factory.  Heavy industry is always government controlled because profit is negative.  When profit is negative, businesses don't do it.  See the US for examples of how the heavy industry was influenced by government.  Especially the world wars, and the Gilded Age, when government closed it's eyes to all corruption.

I'll post things like this to show how I'm running the game, and hopefully make you guys make better decisions/tell me I'm wrong.  Then we both learn.  Update early tomorrow, probably in lunch if I can write it in 45 minutes.

Ugh, I can't do this now.  Life is being horrible.  Update sometime.  I have it written up halfway.  Sorry for delays.  I'll write it up latter.

Feeling much better now.  Update will be out soon.

Edit: Wrote the turn up, but realized micelus hasn't posted.  I'll wait for him to respond.

((ach, sorry; been busy))

Storm Doctrine

With war blowing all around the Emirates, observers have been sent to document the tactics and strategies used by the belligerents. Most alarming is the Rordalian invasion of Francian Sicily which while hated enemies of the Italian people, would allow the Rordalians a staging point to attack the peninsula itself.

Furthermore, observers have noticed that Poland's reliance on outdated military strategy, as well as its lack of proper armaments, will result in its eventual conquest by the Scandinavian and Nevan armies. While not an immediate threat, it does pose a problem should the two powers become too strong for Italy.

As such, to deal with these escalating conflicts, the emirs have unanimously supported a new military doctrine. Blocks of men pushed into trenches or charging into battle was a thing of the past and instead a more mobile army would be instituted. Mass mechanisation, mainly in logistics, would allow for a far quicker army even in the absence of usable railroads. Taking point from the Low Countries, treads have been added to some vehicles to quicken transport. Furthermore, elite squads of soldiers armed with LMG, explosives and other light equipment would be trained. While the main army would still remain a distance away from the rival army, artillery would be used to create a creeping barrage, allowing these elites (Triarii) to move under cover, close enough to deal with enemy fortifications. Once dealt with, the regular forces could take out the weakened enemy positions while the Triarii continued with destabalising the enemy fortifications.

Knowing that even with this new form of combat that improvements could still be made, the emirs have given grants to leading engineers and scientists to improve upon current armaments as well as further develop understanding on 'radio waves'

Time to finish the update.  Marching Band took up my Saturday.  I got there at noon.  We preformed at 11:00 PM AT NIGHT.  Got home at 3 in the morning.  Well worth it though, and I got to sleep in till 11 today, so no big deal.

1907:

Lyrian

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The least screwed up nation here, Lyrian shall go first.  A small factory has been created to manufacture plastic for consumer purposes.  Not a real benefit, because the invisible hand would have done the exact same thing.

A new kind of fabric has been created that is part plastic, part fabric.  Still quite fragile, but slightly less fragile.  Also proven to be quite a deal more flame retardant.

A new type of ship is created.  It is made to be able to deploy air-vehicles off the coast of an island.  Or in the middle of the sea.  Or so on and so forth.  It has to be pretty large, and can only carry one balloon at a time.

Nev

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The time has come, and as hinted, the people marched on the capital, lead by their leader Gazkull.  (He was actually leading the rebels in secret)

Now the capital is occupied by the rebels.

Unfortunately, the king fled East and is still at large.  Now, there is an army of soldiers coming home to find that their monarch has been forced out of power by rebels.  Gazkull, you are now in control.  Somehow, you'll have to convince the army why they should support you instead of the monarch, and a1s should likely do the same.

Your rail improvements are not done because of the rebellion.

The soldiers are coming home.  Well, not really, now there is confusion and chaos.  Several generals decided to hold off on demobilization, and came back to the homeland to restore order.  There will likely be a civil war.  Sadly, while you would import food, you have no money.  Nobody really has money for food, as it is so expensive.

But yeah, now a1s and Gazkull must decide whether they shall commit to a civil war, or whether this revolution is bloodless.  There will be bonus points for a bloodless revolution.  I doubt it'll be bloodless, but still.  I have an interesting mechanic for this next thing.

Low Countries

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The problem with airships isn't the speed of them, it is the weight of the cargo.  You cannot ship much from city to city without having a large frame, and the law of increasing costs means this will get quite expensive very quickly.  A passenger line was set up though, and this has given your people experience dealing with dirigibles.

A large howitzer was created.  Still not mortar size, but yeah.  Its 300 mm, as specified.  You'll still have to tell me whether you want it mass produced or not though.

A new form of management was created by a factory worker in the Low Countries called scientific management.  Some factories were already using similar principles, but this guy made it so that labor management was a science in itself.  It should help people do things better, but will make the worker's work slightly more harder and contribute to the declining quality of goods.  The free market will adopt this automatically over a period of time, but this can be rushed or improved upon.

Scandinavia

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You sent over cash to help the Nevian monarchy, but the rebels intercepted it and distributed it among themselves.  This helped the people's situation though, because now they have some cash to buy stuff with, but this will be devalued next turn without action.  Hyper inflation sucks, doesn't it?

Development of the "car", short for carriage, has been quite successful.  Because of the way it was designed, it is produced in many segments.  This allows one person to develop one part rather quickly, instead of him having to drop a task to do something else.  At the end, the putting together of the car is relatively easy.

GM Note
(If you want to create an assets list, that would be nice, but I'm not making it myself.  Tried doing that in the past.  For one person?  Sure, I can do that.  For 7 people?  No, because then I'd have to go digging through looking for any number I put down.  I really don't want to do that.  If I put down numbers, don't take them as numbers, take them as generalizations.  I don't work well with numbers.  I should speak in terms better or worse)

As a bonus, the economy is doing pretty well.

Rordalia

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your infantrymen embark to invade the French mainland.  Their army lined up against yours.  Your men are outnumbered several times.  They are still holding off the French, but they're slowly being overrun.  Massive volleys of muskets are inaccurate, but still, when you have 7 or so times the enemy manpower, it is quite effective, even though new inventions like the gatling gun are being used against them in really small numbers.  The odd rifle does find itself in French hands, although they are mostly imported, outdated, and inferior quality.

Your men have entrenched and are slowly trying to expand that entrenchment.  Italian ships simply watch the fall of Francia.  It is interesting, but at the border, Italian ships and French ships can yell across from each other, as the Italians are ready to fight in case of an expansion of the war.

A new monocular has been produced.  It is light weight, and allows the average person to see much farther than normal.  There is the side affect of headaches for some people.  These monoculars were attached to the rifle, and now a soldier can fire from extreme distances accurately.

Italy

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Radio waves are continuing to be a useless investment, but you have learnt how to produce these "radio" waves.  Not much use for that as of yet, you still don't have a receiver.

You go and gather the greatest engineers you could find, offering them a bonus for completion of new technology.  You can direct the focus of this, but otherwise, it will be economics technology, better factories, better cars, so on and so forth.  The group that is currently working with you has come up with some treads for you to use.

You have taken to mobile warfare.  The idea is to strike faster than the enemy can react, forcing a submission in one turn or less.  This is exactly what everyone else did for the past 1000 years.  Napoleon with his famous one battle surrenders of massive armies is the man you seek to emulate.  You plan to do this with armored vehicles, of the like the world has never seen.  Infantry will be a big part of it.  Keeping the enemy's knowledge of your whereabouts is key.  You've begun the education of storm troopers, infantry trained to use whatever cover is available to get close.  Much similar to the light infantry units in Scandinavia, except those use range to their advantage, while the storm troops use close in weapons, like grenades, and don't reveal themselves until the final blow.  This set of tactics has been developed, and an experimental unit has been created.  You'll have to decide to spend the resources if you want this to be applied to the entire army.

Random Events

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One thing quite noticeable among all nations is that the quality of goods is going down.  Not necessarily a bad thing yet, but this means that companies are being less than credible about what they are making.  This is especially so about German stuff.  Some minor strikes were had all over Europe, but they were quickly suppressed.

As a note, nobody knows anything about their free market economies.  You'd think that would be a good thing for government to know about and regulate, the economy.  We'll see what will happen because of this.  Currently though, the economy seems quite stable.

The Lower Countries have a treaty with and naval bases in the Mocorian lands. Just a heads-up.

Absolute Monarchy.  And yes, several port cities and their capital, which is located more inland.  It is located by a great floodplains, and farming by that is how they get their food.  Besides that, it is mostly desert.

I'd be glad to take you up on your offer. If you'd like we could also collaborate on a new machine gun, combining the benefits of each of our designs and eliminating the problems.
