I'm quite certain that they're still unpropelled mines.

Unless this is contradicted, the sub is to have a refined oil (Diesel? What am I currently producing in my refinery?) engine and auxiliary electrical power, have as long a range as possible, and be able to launch the underwater explosives, which would be propelled by a miniaturized version of the oil engine. The rest of the post is also correct, Rordalia delivers oil via the rail system, Lower Countries helps set up electrical industry in Rordalia.
I asked that the mines be retrofitted with engines based on the sub engines but miniaturized, but you're right, that wasn't mentioned in the update, so I guess they are still unpropelled. I suppose I could provide what I have, as a basis for further improvement?

Quote from: alamoes edited for clarity
(yeah, I'll give everyone the generic [gatling] technology at this point)
Moar woar
Conduct a second, limited, mobilization. Out east offer the bandits amnesty for crimes below murder to anyone who enlists voluntarily. Ramp up production of the new Unicorn cannon and set up production of the Sunflower machine gun (the Nevian Gatling knockoff).
(if I can squeeze it in: form ex-bandits and willing veterans into in light infantry squads based on the Sandinavian model- I'm sure they will provide us some instructors)

More Peace (of mind)
After two years of Utmost Freedom, the Council of Internal Affairs finally declares martial law. Desertion during war is affirmed to be a capital offense (it probably already was, but now we know it is.) Sentencing for treason and sedition are upped, while rules of evidence are relaxed. Public gatherings of 5 or more people are prohibited, unless a request is submitted (and approved) to the IAC. Stalking around at night is similarly prohibited without a permit. Although this applies to all of Nev, occupied Polish lands are where it's most conclusively implemented.
(This is opportunity is also used as a very transparent cover to get rid of the opposition back home. Even more absurdly after a few months, people suspected of banditry (and who haven't volunteered) start getting picked up on charges of being spies for the Poles, secessionists or anti-councillists (what does that even mean?) proof is usually very shaky, but under the new rules it holds.)

Amber Gold
An Oil refinery is built, and more wheat then ever is being imported- though most of it is being sent to the front (in the form of bread, natch, not as actual wheat), an effort is made to also supply workers in the 'essential industries' at affordable prices.
(Let me guess, the peasants are going to be grumpy again? They can join the army then. Or a at least a factory.)

Refineries
Italy has created refineries to work on the unrefined Nevan oil brought into the country.

Internal Combustion
While coal had its uses, oil was vastly superior when it came to powering automobiles. As such, Italy has bought up several engines from the Low Countries and have begun work on reverse-engineering them.

Radar
Sponsor Marconi's work and research a working radar system for both commercial and military purposes.

That's the 3rd refinery in a world that has ~1.5 engines capable of running on oil cracking products. Not saying it's definitely a bad idea... but maybe it is.

(Well what do you expect?  You spend one (1) action mobilizing the military, then declare war and expect to win with minimal commitment?)
I was under the impression I already had an army ( which "is quite massive, but most people are still given muskets") and was raising reinforcements.
Russia entrenches, and a good amount of polish troops are moved north, against Scandinavia.
What is this Russia you speak of? Has a 4th power joined the war? :P Also what happened to the southern offensive?

Probably won't get the update out today (in 30 minutes?) or tomorrow, I'll be gone most of the day or sleeping.  I'll see about doing it Sunday.  Just saying, you raised an army of conscripts.  If there is anything conscripts are doing, it is dying.

Russia is one of your armies?  Generals?  I don't know, make some reason up why that makes sense.  That's what I've been doing.

A thousand prisoners, who are disarmed and probably starving from having been besieged, have declared war on me? Or has the entire nation of Francia declared war on me?

EDIT: Also, what is the range of the new Rifle?

The range of the new rifle is as far as you can see.  Cause you don't know.  Cause you can't see that far.  The entire nation of Francia.  The island is the same color as Francia on the map.  It was a french island.  Whoops.

ebbor, I've already got a primitive torpedo, which I think has a propulsion system now, so I could provide that if you would reciprocate by equipping Rordalian subs with a deck gun of your design.

Unless this is contradicted, the sub is to have a refined oil (Diesel? What am I currently producing in my refinery?) engine and auxiliary electrical power, have as long a range as possible, and be able to launch the underwater explosives, which would be propelled by a miniaturized version of the oil engine. You have one submarine design, and it has pretty much no guns at all.  What you do is reverse bombing.  Take a bomb, put it on a piece of wood and it drifts up and explodes.  No torpedoes yet.

As for other things, I'm going to bed, I'm tired.  But yeah.  Interesting developments.  Oh, and as a note, nobody has created cheap automobiles, nor has anyone mechanized farming yet.  I guess that is an american thing.

No problem, I knew it was a French island.

Capitalism is Opportunity
A number of economic reforms and programs are to be implemented to improve the economy and the lot of the common people. Most importantly, a National Bank is to be founded, backed by the metal reserves held by the government. To go along with this, a stock market is to be founded, and companies are to be encouraged to trade shares of their ownership publicly on the stock market. Major goal: improve the economy.

Officers and Gentlemen
A new military academy is to be founded and built to teach upcoming officers the ways of modern war. Commoners and nobles will be allowed to enroll, and officers in the army will be encouraged to sent in recommendations for promising NCOs to attend the academy as well. Old ways will be cast aside in favor of new and revolutionary ways of thinking about war.

Calm before the Storm
All Rordalian Royal Navy ships currently in the Mare Nostrum are to proceed immediately to the formerly French island of Nostrus, escorting a full corps of the Royal Army (10-20 thousand men, if I can transport that many). The native recruits are to be enlisted, equipped, and formally entered into the army lists as the Royal Nostran Legion (how many native recruits do we have?). All units involved are to be trained to the highest standard to be ready to move on the French Mainland.

Sorry, I've been busy.  Leave home from school, only to go to marching band, then come home and crash at 12:30 the next day, and wake up at 9:00 only to go to marching band and then come home crash at 11:30 at night.  Well worth it though.  I'll go answer a bunch of the questions.

Edit:Or, I'll ask where they are, because I don't see any unanswered.  Time for one of those character breaks, in which I'm genuinely confused.  :P

Edit 2: I'm not going to worry about it, I'll just pm him, and hopefully he'll answer.

Assuming he's going to post here, I'll wait until tomorrow to do the update.

Sorry about the wait, life can be like that sometimes.

Lyrian

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You have attempted to find a material that could be used to better protect your balloons.  For this you have turned to the chemists.  Out of the vat of an oven comes a sort of silly putty.  After a while it hardens.  Congratulations, you have discovered plastic.

On your airship/balloons, you have place a few Gatling guns to fire down with.

You have improved the steam engine.  It works REALLY well now.  There still exists that chance of explosion, but it is much less of a problem.

Low Countries

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A new form of tractor is created.  Your people have put some wheels on it, but that tends to tip over on rough terrain.  They've decided to add multiple wheels and a tread to give it more stability.  It works, but still kind of unstable and prone to breakdowns.  Also quite slow, slower than infantry at least.

Two new naval inventions are created.  First is the steam propelled water torpedo, and the 80 mm cannon.  The 80 mm cannon does fit on the basic submarine you have, and those submarines are given the new torpedoes.  The design is changed to accommodate this.

There is an attempt to start an airship business.  This does not go over well, because airships are quite big and slow.  A squadron of airships is created for scouting purposes though.

Nev

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As a note, anarchists have popped up in the east.  Your scouts are beginning to find that the people out east are quite hostile to your situation.

Yeah.  Your second mobilization is not going as planned.  You have no more men to conscript after this, and industry is suffering a bunch.  Your army is out stripping the amount of supplies created.  Your soldiers are VERY unhappy.  See WW1, but much MUCH worse.

You give some soldiers the opportunity to stay home as a police force.  Order is maintained that way, even though everyone is starving.

Also as a note, you cannot do number three.  To put it in perspective, the factories are EMPTY.  Entire villages empty.  In areas where people are concentrated most, the cities, people are starving.  They were starving, but this is a different kind of starving.  They literally have to eat rats to survive.

Good luck surviving the next turn.

Italy

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Refineries make refined oil.

You have reverse engineered some refined fuel engines.  I'm going to say that this is common tech now.

Using phone signals and other electronic phenomena to detect things from far away was attempted, the resulting theory was useful, but not very practical.  A new form of wave was discovered, named "radio waves".

Rordalia

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Public ownership of the economy was granted.  Now people are allowed to "sell" their money to bigger corporations for them to use in a loan type fashion.  It is more to help newer companies, but for now, only the bigger companies profit.  The national bank is founded, and through the national bank are the "stocks" purchased or sold.

A war academy is founded to teach newer warfare.  Sadly, not much is known about modern warfare, but people are coming up with ideas.    You should probably direct them to some kind of practical strategic development.

An army is shipped to Nostrus.  Your ships encounter some resistance, old early 19th century wooden ships.  The ships cannot harm your modern iron clad navy of small gunships, and thus your ships literally go right through them.  Some of the bigger ones manage to dent your ships, but no real damage.  Your ships use their cannons to rip through the enemy galleons, and man of wars.  Some get into Gatling gun range, and they de-crew entire ships.  It is a spectacle to behold, and this officially ends the age of sails.

The transport fleet moves about 10000 men onto the Island, making an army 12000 man strong.
