Just bumping to say I haven't given up on this yet.  Any questions about mechanics or comments would be fine as well.  Meh, if people don't join this, then it'll die.

After the decline of the Swedish empire, an surprising and unexpected treaty brought Sweden, Denmark and Norway under a single banner, effectively making it one of the great powers of Europe. However, her industries are behind the rest of Europe, and Scandinavia will have to use its military traditions and rich resources to make up for it.

The Lower Countries

Although long divided by war and internal tensions (Such as the War to restore Order in the Southern Provinces of 1830, the Luxemburg stand-off of 1856 , and the Belgian Annexation of Limburg in the 1876) the lower countries of Europe were forced to unite in 1887 due to the growing danger of war on the continent. With it's industry and cities booming thanks to it's large colonial empire and strong Industry, it looked like the 1900 were going to be a prosperous time.

United Emirates of Italy (UEI):
Description: The successful invasion of Otranto in 1480 by the Ottoman Empire led to the conquest of Italy despite the actions of Europe's rulers. All though unable to cross into the lands of the French or Germans, due to several humiliating defeats throughout the Italian Alps, the conquest of Italy was sealed. Every city, from Palermo to the south to Venice in the north, had been captured and humbled by the Turkish war machine. By 1790 however, the Ottoman Empire had become the laughing stock of Europe, barely able to keep its own subjects in line. Thus, with little difficulty, Napoleon successfully took back the peninsula in 1799, forming client states from the ancient states of Italy. When France was ultimately defeated and the lines of Europe redrawn, the states as they were were kept. In time, a sense of nationalism pervaded throughout the nation and soon, through the efforts of diplomats and revolutionaries, all of southern Italy were united under the one country. Though semi-independent, with each emirate left to their own domestic affairs, each state contributes to the well-being of the country as a whole. With a history of warfare, both on land and sea, and thousands of minds influenced by the Wars of Napoleon and the nation's unique status, The UEI are prepared to see the end of the millennium as the start of a new Italian hegemony.
Traits:
Naval Tradition
Military Tradition
Civilian Industry

Current Technological Advances Everyone Has:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That sounds like the 1840s-50s, rather than 1900. And "Napoleonic" doctrine would be anachronistic even for that (OTL Napoleon's contribution to warfare were the importance of strategic mobility and quick replenishment of losses (so called "massive draft"), both were widely adopted by the great powers in 1820s and so utterly commonplace by the 1840s one would likely mention them in the same lineup as "use of firearms" and "career officers").

The Free Councillary Republic of Nevgard and Allied States (just Nev will do):

30 years ago the enlightened artisans of the Grand City of Nevgard have risen up against the backwater corruption of the Mockberg princes and replaced it's outdated feudal practices with a modern federal system where each state has a representative in the High Council and moved the capital to a much more western (enlightened and, you know, Grand) city of Nevgard. The current (and second) Elder of the High Council is Maria Stahlmann (a Lett and a woman- which unequivocally proves Nev is the freest, most liberal country in the world) under whose glorious leadership the country is rapidly industrializing and de-agrarianizing (though so far really more of the second, than first).
(need I mention Nev is a harsh dictatorship?)

Traits:
Large Size

Frigid

Why do people nitpick everything I do.  I know what Napoleon's innovations were, and also know that most of the great social change happened in the 1860s onward.  I'm just starting at WW1 time period because WW1 is a time period where tensions were incredibly high.  And the point is that you could choose to upgrade, or stay as you are.  I don't expect war to happen for a few turns.  Of course, I could give you more actions at the price of more years passing each turn.  Like 5 years per turn --> 5 actions per turn.  So yeah, if you want anything changed mechanics wise/have a good idea, then go ahead.  Like the above.

Interesting.  So far, a lot of undeveloped nations.  Seems as though there was no age of imperialism here.  Well, there was, but it was not a colonial age.

Well, first turn I'll give you to set up your first move.  Also, do you want the game to move faster with more actions at the cost of more years going by?

*Plot*
The world cheers in celebration of a new century.  Nothing very eventful happened this turn.  Tensions are at their usual high, people are their usual bigoted selves.  Time for government to step in and exploit the peace.

Lyrian changes government to Lyrianci! Lyrianci has 50 Senators, each term is one year, and they can run a max of four times. They write bills and other things that they, as well as the public votes on.
Lyrian researches combustion.

At the High Council meeting goals are set for the new 4-year plan:
  • "Industrialization at any cost" (so we can work smarter, not harder)
  • "death to traitors and lingering anti-councillists"(well someone must holding us back- we're the most progressive country in the world)
  • "education for a brighter tomorrow" (flaws have been found in the old system, which was based on unsound ideological foundation)
Tens of thousands of displaced Nevian peasants (and about 10 world class engineers with more greed than morals) are sent to build an industrial park in the ore-rich region of Ursa.

Note that all of your nations are currently monarchies, and before the revolution, I would like clarification that you are not adopting a constitutional monarchy, and instead becoming a republic.  What may happen may surprise you.

I would like to confirm that I'm not thinking Nev is a republic (I would call it "autocracy", rather than "monarchy", but it fits the same mold)
Also, that the turn's action is about building heavy industry and the 4-year plan is mostly fluffy.

Oh no, it isn't you I'm worried about.  It's that island, isolated from everyone else.  Think it might be going mad with ideas that people can run themselves.  Might need an intervention.  Hopefully, it'll retain it's true values.  And your action is perfect for what I've imagined this game to be.

Oh and don't forget, just cause a person isn't in control of a nation doesn't mean they can't influence it.
