Greet her Horrifyingly Politely, and examine her in Horrifyingly Accurate detail. Otherwise, remain silent and observe.
"Why, hello my dearest madam. It is such a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Oh, finally a soul with some decent manners! Quite unlike yourself, dear brother."

"So help me, Diwari. Cease your usual childishness at once, lest I personally throw you into Tartarus..."

You pay attention to the two siblings as they bicker. On the surface, they seem to have a stereotypical relationship as a brother and sister, although you notice that the two are much more close than implied since they are able to insult each other freely.

[Roll=5+2=7]
You don't notice anything peculiar about "Diwari" besides her unusually pale skin and faintly glowing lavender eyes. She appears to be very fond of teasing and poking fun at others, and is very energetic and coy with dealing with her brother. While you don't sense any energy radiating off "Diwari" at the moment, you know that you should be careful not to offend her if she is to have the same amount of power as her brother.

Imprint secret directive:
  If about to travel from one world to another, absorb all ambient energy.

Detect to see if the energy flowing throughout the cavern is similar to your own, then attempt to absorb it; your world must have magic in it, and the extra energy in your soul will enhance your potential magical powers.
[Roll=13+2=15]
You focus on the energy in the room, and find that there is a small amount of "pure" energy slowly drifting about in your surroundings. With the siblings still distracted with their intense bickering session, you gather it into yourself, letting it flow into your body, and successfully absorb a very small mote of energy.

Energy Retrieved: 0.5 Pure Energy

After a few more minutes, the siblings finally turn their attention onto you.

"Now, dear, I expect that my brother was not so forgetful to have neglected to inform you of what my duty is. Simply come here, and step onto this pedestal." "Diwari" gestures to a wide, clear-glass pedestal in the center of the room. Huh, how did you miss something as noticeable as that?

As you move yourself onto the pedestal, you feel some kind of "static" emanate from it. Could this a new type of energy? How exactly will this "gate" operate?

"Diwari" laughs as though she notices your discomfort. "Don't worry, it will not hurt in the slightest. Oh, and just a reminder before you leave, you won't be able to remember anything from your time here until you die and become a soul again. Do feel free to visit later!"

With a nod from her brother and a wave of her hand, you black out.

Gentlemen, as one of the spoilers says, we have to make a choice.

By the way, for the GM:

You can put a name in spoilers by writting spoiler=Text in the spoiler thingy.

Attempt to detect energy signatures of the objects if your current state permits, and reach out to the clear crystals. (choice B)

I have guesses as for what the various energy types are:
Pink is fizzy and sparkly, possibly representing chaos, life, or the elements.
Darkness is self-explanatory.
Crystal is likely "pure" energy, that which souls seem naturally affiliated with, and we already have some. (but it's in his soul, so when our character is born, he won't know he even has it)
Not reaching out to anything in particular might represent faith in your own strength. Could result in warrior-like character rather than mage-like.

As for what this means, I'll bet it represents what magical affiliation or personality the character will acquire. Choose wisely, people.

But choosing one of the others could also result in us being indebted to powers that make us do stuff in return for that power.

Steer towards the pinkness and attempt to immerse yourself in it while analysing the Darkness in the proverbial excruciating detail. Also, let the pain drive you to insanity.

Attempt to detect energy signatures of the objects if your current state permits
[Roll=19+2(Inquisitive)+5(Ambitious)-10(Extreme Agony)=16)
Somehow, even in your befuddled state, you are able to glean a little from each of the different materials.

The pink seems to dance out of pure joy, making unfathomable random movements up and down, left and right. It constantly shifts form, from a bright star, to a wavy line, to a spiralling coil, and other weird figures. For a single mote of energy (you guess it is energy), it sure defies logic.

The crystal glass shards aren't manifestations of energy, but are actually "containers" of a sort. You can't sense anything from the stored energy aside from a tingling at the back of your brain.

The mysterious darkness is very cold. You are pretty sure you are turning into a block of ice, forever to be hidden within the shadows. What is more terrifying, to lose to the inevitable elements or dying alone?

So far, you think you shall reach out for the shards of crystal.

Are you sure?

Based on the new readings of the nature of these objects (if they can really be called that) they seem to be more related to personalities rather than energy. A soul's gotta choose its general direction, eh?

New interpretation:
Pink: joyful, adventurous, spontaneous, optimistic; always the slightly crazy one, you are ambitious and have high hopes.
Crystals: strange, intriguing, curious; always seeking knowledge, you wish to learn all that you can about the world around you.
Darkness: moody, dark, depressed; you see no point in life. The coldness of your heart may lead you to terrible actions.
Nothing: You are blank, absentminded, and always feel disconnected from the world. Unsure about your future, many others think you don't have one.

I see three paths that would fit our current character: Pink (ambition), Crystals (inquisitive, analytical), Nothing (absentminded, indecisive).
Darkness would be almost like the opposite of what we've built him to be so far.

I'm still voting on the crystals.
