Speak in riddles.
Detect person's power.
[Roll=15-2(Winging it)+2(Amusing idea)=15]
"The blood in my head blended with the sand in my ears, thus until the fruit was ripe I was unable to hear. I apologize, but please let your mouth know the intention behind the weightiness of my perspicacity.

The old man stares blankly at you. The other creatures squirm nervously while ogling you with shock. Was this really a good idea?

[Roll=13+4(Successful Diplomacy)=17]
You are taken aback when the old man bursts out chortling.
"Why," he exclaims, "It has been ages since a soul dared to respond to me in such a brazen way. So I suppose for now..."
The other souls freeze as he turns to face them.
"Simply follow the path and you shall be given further instruction. Now, begone!"
They wisely choose to silently march away.

[Roll=20! Critical Success!]
While the old man is distracted with attentively overseeing the direction of the souls, you try to sense his energy. Without warning, your senses are overloaded by the intense sensations radiating from the intensity of his power. You feel as though your entire body is being pierced by a dozen blazing metallic blades, its inferno focused to the harshness of perhaps even magma.
As you manage to stop yourself from crying out in pain, you find yourself certain that the energy of the old man is a completely different type than the comfortable warmth of your own body. You are also able to determine that his energy is similar to the sensation you experienced when being dragged out of the sea of energy. However, you find it odd that the "aura" of his body is of nearly undescribable heat when you felt uncomfortable frigidness earlier.

Oblivious to your analysis of his power, the old man ceases watching the spirits tread away into the distance and turns to face you once more.
"Now, as gratitude for bringing me some amusement in this forsaken place, I'll answer a few of any questions you may have. And make it quick-you have an appointment with my sister."

What do you ask?

Attempt to accumulate and store ambient energy.

"How old are you?"

"How old is your sister?"

"What is the meaning of life?

"Hah, very funny. Before you are even considered as such, you need to pass through the gate and become 'alive' as a mortal infant first. Thus, your question is invalid for the moment. Do not worry, you shall have your chance to discover the answer to that question yourself very soon."

"Where am I?"

"You are in the Well of Souls, the border between the mortal and divine realm, and also one of the most deserted areas in the entirety of the universe. Here, spirits such as yourself are born from purified excess energy of the universe. The energy is usually provided by the gods to ensure the creation of more loyal worshippers and subjects. They leave the task of guiding souls to their mortal life to Shepherds and Gatekeepers, of which include myself and my sister."

"How will I die?"

"You would need an oracle of the god of prophecy to learn that before your time. I cannot help as I am but a lowly Shepherd."

"How old are you?"

"Old enough that I no longer remember the exact time. I was one of the first Shepherds, introduced a few centuries after the dawn of time, and have remained one ever since."

"How old is your sister?"

"She is younger than I am, born a short time after I became a Shepherd."

"What am I?"

"You are a soul, one who is meant to become an inhabitant of the mortal realm. You are meant to become a mortal in one of the magical galaxies. A half-goblin son to a couple who are truly in love with each other despite their differing species, which is something that is quite rare. Very befitting of you, considering you are the most curious and interesting spirit I have met in a long while."

The old man begins to chuckle once more.

Trait gained: Inquisitive

[Roll=8-2(Winging it)=6]
While the old man laughs, you try your hardest to absorb the energy in your surroundings. Yet, you can barely sense the ambient energy; more so even extract it. Perhaps you are going about this the wrong way? How do you try to store the ambient energy?

After several fleeting moments, the old man returns to his previous stoic manner.

"I suppose I must lead you to my sister myself, as I do not trust you to wander off exploring the limits of this dimensions. However, before we depart, I wish to be the one asking you a question this time."

His bright red eyes feel as though they are piercing through your body, scanning your scattered thoughts.

"Who do you think you are?"

What do you reply?

Maybe we should think about getting a better life, rather than a half-goblin

"...Most interesting." The old man strokes his beard, gazing into the distance. I don't recall seeing such a strong will from a newborn soul in all my millennia of existence. You truly are something extremely remarkable."

He smiles warmly at you, as though he can sense your full determination. You feel slightly assured in your resolve by his welcoming reaction.

"I will enjoy observing your progress in the mortal realm."

Traits gained: Ambitious, Slightly Analytical

"Now, come." the old man says. I shall now take you to one of the gates, where my sister is currently waiting. Don't fret, it is not a long walk."

He gestures to a cobblestone pathway, leading into a dark cave entrance. You notice that the only source of light in the surrounding areas has been from the luminous sea of energy behind you. It casts a constantly shifting glow on the hard yet shiny rock and the face of the old man.

You finally realize that during your heavy thinking and experimentation, you have not examined your surroundings properly at any time.

Trait gained: Absentminded

You follow the old man into the rough, dark caverns. What do you do while walking?
