Armed conflicts: Photos, videos, articles
« on: October 11, 2014, 05:51:47 am »

No political discussions here, please. We have specialized  threads for that.

I want that thread to be used for sharing various info from armed conflict of the world. Photos, Videos, Articles.  I repeat: Restrain yourself from discussing political side of wars, please.

Also, try to not discuss "strategy" here. We have Armchair General thread for that.

I'll start with few photos from Donetsk International Airport. Some may be outdated

Man, look at those armored vehicles.

They should've had better crews.

War in Transnistria (01.03.1992-21.07.1992)

The newly elected nationalist government of Moldavian SSR planned to reunify Moldova with Romania. Concerns over the potential loss of political rights spurned secessionist sentiments in the dominantly Russian-speaking region of Transnistria. It declared independence from Moldova on the 2nd of September 1990. Several clashes between Moldavian police and Transnistrian militias occurred in late 1990 and throughout 1991. In early March of 1992, Moldavian forces, assisted by Romanian military advisors and volunteers, attempted to retake Transnistria by force.

Frontline video from Ukrainian side. 19 October 2014.
What are they doing? It looks like they're retreating, but I can't really tell without being able to read the notes.

Anyway, more video from the frontlines. Ukrainian mechanized infantry attack and destroy... something. Only slightly better than potato quality, I think the guy is using a handheld camera.
