(It's the time scaling, which currently makes communication between the *Opulent Temple and the monster zone non-negligible, thus explaining why Alprozem may not know about the monsters)

I attribute that to the Gruen's ability to evolve based off of what they eat. I don't think the monsters inherently have mind altering abilities upon being eaten. The fact that only Gruen and not the Lords of Hunger were affected seems to support my hypothesis. That said, if the God of Hunger were to get food poisoning, it would be hilarious and almost worth it.
