Why not just be obvious and call it "The Dwarf Fortress Video sing-along?"

I said slow descent into chaos.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog seemed to be pretty popular...

I liked it.

Well, the slow descent is something of my preference, but, looking at it objectively, it wouldn't work either, as it would be a misleading title.  It would imply the content is limited to sing-alongs, when there are going to be Let's Plays, Tutorials, Live Action renditions of Battles, DF talks, Read off of the Dev Logs, and other stuff.  Considering that, we need a neutral name.  Dwarven Bookkeeper, Bay 12 Community Channel, The Twelfth Bay, or something along those lines.

I would favor the Twelfth Bay. It's clearly ours, but also sounds nice to outsiders.

I also support this name. If that fails, Bay 12 Trade Depot or something.

This is probably the best name, It doesn't restrict us to just doing dwarf fortress stuff.

I think I'd be for this, as I make videos, some of which are occasionally of Dwarf Fortress things.

I suppose this is a good reason to finally make a DF video. I haven't even played the new version, too busy with work / Minecraft videos. Maybe I can reserve some time this weekend to give it a go.

Is it limited to dwarf fortress stuff only or Is anything created by members of the community permitted?

it'd be nice to do non-dwarfy things

Yeah, I think it'd be nice to just have a Yogscast-style group of videos. There can be DF playlists for our dwarfy videos, but I could also add my Minecraft videos (especially the ones featuring clones of B12ers as NPCs) and other games, too. Generally, I think it would be fun to just have all our videos in one place, hopefully organized so they're easy to sort through.

My challenges for myself for this weekend are to
1. Finish the next Minecraft Commune episode,
2. At least get started on my Space Engineers review for work, and
3. Find a way to make a DF video that doesn't immediately scare non-dorfs away due to the ASCII.

And I have to squeeze a Minecraft date with my mom in there somewhere as well... Gonna be a busy weekend! My poor, poor wrists are gonna be so sore come Monday...

Any screen-capturing software that people would recommend?  I've got an idea, but I need a free one to start recording.

I would say that anything by the community would be permitted.  The super-channel would need to be primarily about DF and information (ex. sicknesses/delays/cancellations, etc) about channels (exceptions would be made for top 10s using various member's videos), but I think that the channels of the various players could be anything.

^^This.

There's no good free screen-capturing software that have good editing abilities and don't watermark your videos.
