The general undid the chains that held his lance against his arm.

: This is the Saunion, my invention and personal lance. You could say it's my symbol. A symbol of Ixion.

Then he gave it to Laura.

: Now it's yours, so that when you meet the King, and when you strike him down for bringing so much ruin to our country, you'll be able to give him our regards.

Laura gets Saunion!

[Haspen]

Laura took the lance and turned around almost, before she looked back at Ironside.

"What kind of symbol are we talking about here?"

[Solymr]

: The kind that you can stab people with.

[Haspen]

"Alright... then. It's time to go?"

[Twinwolf]

"Will you be coming with us? Or do you need to go elsewhere to stop the troops?"

[Solymr]

: Let's go. We'll see how it goes.

: We left people holding out your soldiers right outside the gate!

: We should make haste then.
The party only took a few minutes to return to the gate now that no one stood in their way.

And just outside, like Anne-Laude said, there were the soldiers that helped them get inside the castle in the first place. Jacob, Micheal and Phineas were still standing, but the exhaustion of battle was taking its toll.

General Ironside raises his arms and bellowed out at the Ixionian soldiers, making everyone slowly stop fighting and turn to look at him.

: What... General Ironside? What happened? Is it all over?

: The King still lives, but it has become clear that he does not care anymore for Ixion, so we will not care for his war anymore! We need to stop the battle across all the city and pursue him!

The three leaders of the offensive breathed in relief and sheathed their weapons.

: I have no objection to stopping the fight, give us a minute to regain our breath though. You're the top General of Ixion, right?

: Greetings. I'm glad this finally reached an end.

: This isn't ending just yet. I haven't been kept up to date with the most important events that have been happening, namely a certain portal. The King is very likely involved and needs to be stopped at once.

: The Waygate, true. We should head there post-haste.

: Should we start making our way towards the airship then?

: _{I am not fitting a small army in here! This airship will become a regular ship with so many people.}

: Looks like we'll have to split up.

: Leave the city to us. You go with that thing and get there in time, we'll be right behind you as soon as we can.

: If you can handle it, we'll take care of the King by ourselves if it comes to that.

: Yeah! Leave it to us! ... Now, how do we get up there?

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Catherine, give me a hand? Tomik and Senija can take us up there once we've gotten everyone else."

And with that Lilly started Warping people up to the airship.

[Powder Miner]

:"Nnnn... I really am not looking forward to going back to that place..."
Senija let out a breath and let her expression flicker for a moment before she slammed her fist into her other palm and steeled herself.
:"If we have to go in, though, I will."

[GiglameshDespair]

Ketsuki once again looked contemplative.
"I began my journey from those mountains, and return there to end it. How... circular."

:"Nnnn... I really am not looking forward to going back to that place..."
Senija let out a breath and let her expression flicker for a moment before she slammed her fist into her other palm and steeled herself.
:"If we have to go in, though, I will."

"That place could not match us last time. It will not do so this time, either."

[Solymr]

: She's right, you know. Especially now that we're toge- Being warped mid-word cut him off. Unfortunate.

[Twinwolf]

Catherine nodded, and began to Warp people up.

"It's almost over... I may not have been there when this started, but I mean to help finish it."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Hey, take over for a minute Cath."

Lilly walked over to Micheal.

"Hey, um."

"This might be the last time we see each other. Uh, I don't mean getting myself killed by the king of Ixion or anything, I just mean... I'm going to go with my husband and sister-in-law to Durga when this is all said and done. Get a new start, y'know?"

"I just wanted to say thank you. I mean you were already practically grown up with a life of your own by the time our parents had me, but... you were there for me when it counted, and that matters a lot. And, um, could you say bye to Dad and John Jr. for me?"

She doubted her mother and sister would miss her all that much.

[Solymr]

One by one, the party members started disappearing from the ground.

: Don't worry about it. You're still my sister after all. I'd like it better if you visit at least once without a threat over our heads. Micheal smiled. Take care. You'll do great.

Micheal waved as the wyverns took the last of them up in the air.

: Hmph. Magic.

: You know, we should start considering what to do after this is over. We've been meaning to open up a bit lately.

: Politics later. Time to do our part!
One by one, the party members appeared on the ship. A moment later the wyverns brought the last ones aboard.

: Welcome back! To the Waygate then?

: To the Waygate.

~~~~Final Chapter: Endgame~~~~

The sun was setting when the airship approached the mountains where the Waygate was. Then, a beam of light pierced the heavens, indicating that the time is at hand.

Mason looked nervously at the beacon.

: You'll have to go down soon. Are you ready? Any last minute things?

: Now that you mention it... Harold walked over to Kyle. I found this big club back there. It's a magic one, but even then I figure you'll have an easier time swinging it than I do.
