Laura looked at Tomik and Kyle as their attempted to barge the door, not noticing any of conversations that went on.

Whatever, though.

She continued to sulk in silence.

Tomik grunted and then pushed against the door, adding his strength to Kyle's.

The door strated creaking, then cracking, until it finally gave out and opened wide. But the scene on the other side of the door wasn't what most of them expected...

The sky was red, the landscape on front of them was monotone and dead, the air felt like the inside of the cell even though they were outside, and far away a beacon of bright light could be seen.

The party's equipment was strewn on the ground in front of them, on the same condition as before the crash. There weren't any wyverns circling around above them, or horses waiting for them.

And closer than they would have liked, a group of otherworldly monsters turned towards them, some growling, others clattering their bones.

Mason picked up his equipment before the shock overtook him and muttered his catchphrase.

: Well, shit.

"Well, we can fight, so perhaps things aren't all that bad."

Kyle turns to Harlan.
"So, since we appear to be dead, does that mean you aren't going to kill me anymore?"
Kyle grabs his axes.

"I still doubt we are deceased. We appear to be breathing, which is not a feature recorded in any depiction of undead or spirits."

"Oh? One must wonder how many of those depictions of yours were made by the dead. Few enough, I'd wager. I can hear at least some of those growling, which means they must be able to at least do the motions of breathing." Ketsuki shrugged. "In the end, I suppose it matters little. I still intend to fight."

"Fair point. We have more pressing matters at the moment, anyway."

"Indeed. We should destroy that closer group, first."

"Besides thinking those who were shoved through the portal might not be dead after all? And might have been us? ... Kyle, Laura, Ketsuki and I form a line against the two groups to the north and east. Ranged attackers line up behind us, support stay in the back where you can help as needed. It'd be nice if our wyverns were around but we'll make do."
