Lillian shied away slightly from the large man.

"Er, anyway, I don't think I caught your name...? Mine is Lillian. You're... with the pirates, right?"

  "Probably. Anyways, yes, I am a pirate. Kyle is my name."

"OK. Nice to meet you, Kyle."

Certainly better than fighting each other, anyway... We really need to get away from the Ixion military. I wonder if maybe going out to sea would be a good idea? I ought to talk to Tomik about it.

"So, um, piratey life, right? What's that like?"

Kyle grimaces.
  "Horrible. Food sucks most of the time. Ya need to eat lots of citrus to avoid unpleasant things, and you spend long amounts of time where the only relief is the type the gods can't see. 'Course, it's not all bad. And without this job I'd never be able to even thing about getting my revenge."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Mmm. I suppose there would be downsides, but at least you're free, right? It has to be better than being locked away in a tiny cell."

"What sort of revenge?"

Kyle nods.
  "Aye, and when war comes you even have friends outside your mates. Anyways, I am seeking the man who caused my mothers decent into being a wretch. It was the last thing she ever asked of me. Even gave me specific instructions about what to do."

Lilly rubbed the back of her neck nervously. That sounded like a touchy subject, and she was like half this guy's size. And he had an axe. Probably best to tread lightly.

"I see... So, you joined up with the pirates to make it easier to find him? Is he a pirate too?"

  "Well, you see, I used to work in a church. You know, keeping the place clean and such. Well, one day, a sailor came in and talked to the preacher about his horrible captain that matched the man head to foot. So... I joined on a privateer's ship."

"Oh, is that so? Are you also from Alberal, then?"

Kyle gives a brief affirmative nod in responce.

"I didn't expect to meet someone else from the homeland in a place like this. My family lives in Coriven. What about you?"

"I'm glad I could help. As for flying, indeed. Perhaps I can give you a ride some time when we aren't facing enemies."

: "Oh, I wouldn't want to impose - especially if I were taking Lillian's seat. I was never much of a singer to begin with, but it's nearly impossible now. Your wyvern would throw me off."

  "My family is dead or never wanted me. So I try to forget about them..."

"Oh. Er, right then. I guess I'll... just be quiet, then..."

  "It's fine. I've had long enough in the streets to swallow all my tears. Heck, I started on a song about my tragedy. I figured one day a bard could get real rich from my misfortune so why not make the lyrics so they don't get something wrong."
