: I agree. Lately there was a lot of things that didn't fit, and I suspected I was being kept in the dark from something, despite being the King's most trusted general.

Ironside tightened his grip on the lance he was carrying until his knuckles turned white.

: Please do not judge all of the Ixionians so severely. If I wasn't told of what's happening it's because the King knows that I didn't reach this position by blindly following orders. My loyalty is with Ixion, not with a... mad king. But because we value discipline above all else, not many people could afford to defy their higher-ups without a solid plan, especially in the middle of a war. A war made to distract and cause nothing but chaos.

"Then work with us. We want this war over as much as you seem to and having someone that's as respected as you could help us. We need to stop them, but we will do that better with someone like you on our side."

Kyle peeks through the door. After a moment he waves and moves back to where he was.
"_{... D'you think he killed the king first?}"
He whispers to no one in particular.

Ironside took another deep breath and relaxed.

: Of course. I will help you stop this senseless war, I will order all of Ixion's troops to stop fighting. You need to stop the King though, he left some time ago and I believe he's determined to finish this his own way... I'll show you the way out.

The general fell silent for a few seconds before continuing.

: ...Before that, just one request. I cannot in good conscience surrender without having seen how strong you are by myself. But seeing as how you reached this room in the first place... this shouldn't take long.

Tomik raised an eyebrow underneath his helm and then nodded.

"Fair enough I suppose. Last time we met, I don't think I could have scratched that armor. But this time around is a different story."

"Really? You uh, really think that that's a fair... aw sod it. At least he's giving us a reason unlike 90% of the people we've dealt with."
