"Except maybe a puppy."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Trade you for a puppy? No, never."

"You're much cuter than a puppy."

[Swordstar]

"Aw, you even said much cuter. Not even just a little cuter. I'm touched."

He gently squeezed her hand as their food arrived. He'd ordered a hefty sandwich with some fruit on the side and he eagerly dug in.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Oh please. I like dogs and cats but they can't compare to my husband."

It was possible she tried to wink but again, hair. Their food arrived; Lilly's was scrambled eggs and bacon. A typical sort of breakfast but not one she had got to have in a long time, and her stomach grumbled quietly.

"Heh... maybe I ought to order a little more, huh?"

[Swordstar]

"You should order as much as you want, darling. It wouldn't do for you to starve yourself. And you slept quite late, so it stands to reason you're a little hungry."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Well, that's not EXACTLY what I meant... but sure."

When the serving girl came back around, Lilly added some fruit and some salad to her order - she had to eat healthy, too, instead of just more.

"Hee hee. I wonder how zoned out Albert will be the next time we see him."

[Swordstar]

Tomik laughed and shook his head.

"Knowing Ketsuki, well... Hopefully he'll be good to go tomorrow."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"...Will we see him before tomorrow? Or either of them?"

"I mean I'm not judging, I'm hardly in a place to, and there are much worse ways to spend a whole day. I'm just... curious."

[Swordstar]

"Your guess is as good as mine. Though again, given how Ketsuki was acting... Seems unlikely."

He ate a bit of his sandwich and then pointed out,

"Yknow, Harold was looking for my sister too. Wonder how the two of them are getting along..."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Lilly blinked.

"Er, right, well then. I... hope they have fun...?"

[Swordstar]

"What? No, I didn't... I just meant I wondered how their date went, not anything like Albert and Ketsuki just... How they worked... I..."

Tomik busied himself with his sandwich trying very hard not to think about the thoughts that had popped into his head after Lilly's comment.

[SeriousConcentrate]

Lilly's attempt to reassure made the situation even worse.

"NO, I MEAN, if they were, then we would probably have... heard..."

The bard trailed off as she realized what she was saying and instead stuffed her mouth with lettuce before she could put her foot in it any further.

[Swordstar]

Tomik choked on his sandwich as Lilly made things much worse.

"Ack-ch-guh."

He coughed for a few seconds before staring at his sandwich very hard for a few seconds and then looking up at Lilly.

"So. What sort of things were you hoping to do on this date? We could go shopping, or just walk around, or whatever you want to do."

He was very clearly trying very hard not to think about what they had just been talking about.

[SeriousConcentrate]

The bard's relief at both her husband not choking to death and the change of topic was visibly evident.

"Right, um, hmm. We should look around and see if there's anything fun to do in town, y'know, any historical sites to look at or anything. Or maybe we could swim in the ocean, this is a port town."

[Swordstar]

"Hmm, sounds like fun."

~~A short time later~~

Tomik held Lilly's hand as they walked down the street, taking in the small town. The weight of the ring box in his pocket was on his mind as they did, wondering when the best time to give them to her would be. Still, for now he was just enjoying being by her side, not needing anything more than that.
