There were in fact more than a couple bookstores, specialized in each type of magic. The anima bookstore, "Thunder, Wind and Fire", had a large selection from which Catherine could pick. The librarian, a purple-haired young man with a surly face, patiently waited while watching the various shoppers look at the tomes at sale.

Catherine nods to herself as she looks over the fire tomes. One of these would do quite nicely (although they were expensive...). However, she resists the impulse-purchase for now, and leads the others around to relevant shops, so that they can spend smartly.

: Catherine, I don't think we've talked much before. Seeing as you're a mage, you come from Kizamo, right?

The next shop they found was a more heavenly oriented magic bookstore, "Linde's Light".

"I am, yes. I take it that despite being a mage you're not? Where did you learn your magic? You seem good enough at it I'd almost mistake you for a Kizamo mage."

: Heh, I'll take that compliment. Truth is I had to learn from whatever I could at first, in the slums. Harlan helped with that until I managed to get to one of Kizamo's cities and actually get into the stuff.

While they were talking they continued looking for shops, finding one that had an ancient symbol that marked it as a dark magic store.

: Ohh, nice. What were we talking about? Oh yeah, I was always into history but it was when I got to Kizamo that I started really learning. I became a sort of retriever for people who wouldn't risk themselves to waddle through ruins, and that's how I've managed to get here.

"From the slums? Huh, I'd never have guessed. You've done well for yourself, then.

Ah, that's a good occupation around Kizamo, I'd think - a lot of collectors and inventors, even powerful mages, simply don't want to waste time with ruins-delving when they can be at home making sure everything else is perfect."

: Yeah, I don't get a lot work but it pays good and I get to know about artifacts and history. What about you? What did you do back there?

Next stop was an armory specialized in swords. The shopkeeper was a deathly thin guy that looks like his swords could lift him.

I've been to quite a few countries, studying magic and how it's practice differs in different places. I'd been travelling to Alberal when you all picked me up."

: I remember that. So what are you going to do after this is over? Did you get enough adventure for now?

"I'm not sure, really. I think I may spend some time writing of the experiences - after all, I don't think another Kizamo mage has been on the other side of the gate, and seen all that. I understand that there's certainly a theological perspective on it, but what of the scientific one? I wonder where that man left his notes - they could be helpful in understanding the nature of it all.

I might have to ask the others of the parts of the journey that I missed, though - it seemed you had been travelling for a good while when I came aboard.

After that, who knows?"

: There was another mage with you when you came back, right? I think he had some knowledge of it too but then got taken away before we got on the airship to get here.
