"Anyways, the last guy who was making death threats against us was actually impressive so could you like, improve your act a little? ... Actually, never mind, we're just gonna go and, as you should know since you're so fucking smart, kill everyone who knows that stuff."

The talking sword surprised Magnussen enough to leave that expression on his face when Ketsuki's slash cut Magnussen's head off along with the pillar he tried to use as defense and the wall behind that.

The rest of the group congregated around, contemplating the next step. Cedric did a short sign of protection before turning to the rest.

: Well, that's the end of that. I must again thank you for your valuable service, if it weren't for you I would have probably never made it out.

: We didn't have much of a choice, with the timing involved. They would have done us in too if we didn't fight back.

: And we had to bring Lord Luso's killer to justice.

: I just wander into these situations by fat luck. Now what?

: We still have to consider if his words had any truth behind them. The prophets that were warning of this haven't calmed down yet.

: Now that you mention that... I still have this uneasy feeling, and this considering I went through the Waygate twice, and saw it close the last time. It could be that they can try opening it again...

"Then we just need to find a way to make sure it stays closed. For good. We'll do whatever it takes to make sure that happens."

"He assumed I meant to destroy the notes before reading them. There could be great advances made with the notes... the ethical parts, that is. The gate does need to be destroyed." Catherine says, approaching the body and beginning to search it, without particularly caring for the blood spurting out of it's stump of a head.

Pulling off his helm, Tomik knelt down next to Cat and shook his head.

"Here, let me handle that. I've been doing this sort of thing for longer than you, and it's easier to get blood off of armor than out of clothing."

Tomik searches the body for anything useful

Tomik found a small device, the same one he had last time they saw him. And same as last time, there was a sudden flash of light, and Tomik and his wyvern were gone without a trace.

: Uh oh.

: Dammit! He found his escape plan.

: What just happened?

: It's the same thing that happened when Lord Luso was killed... Teleportation. That means Sir Tomik could be...

: ...Right in the middle of Ixion. Damn...
Tomik got temporarily blinded by the flash of light. When he opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the Cathedral.

And in front of him were a bunch of Ixion wyvern riders and fighters. One of them approached Tomik.

You! What happened to the rest of your squad? And Magnussen?

"Well struck as always, Galeforce."
Ketsuki flicked the blood from her blade and sheathed it, and then Tomik disappeared.
"Hmm."

[Sirus]

: "Well. Shit."

"...And this is why I was trying to do it." Catherine sighed. She hoped Tomik could figure out whatever device had taken him. "To be fair, assuming he was transported somewhere, he's probably the most suited of us to survive it."

A flash of light. Tomik was temporarily blinded, and he rubbed his eyes gently to try and help. When he reopened them, he froze. This wasn't a pleasant situation. Surrounded by enemies and none of his allies around. Though, to be honest, he'd rather be stuck in this situation than have any of them be stuck in it. It was probably best that he'd been the one to find it after all. It was only then that it registered that they were talking to him and not attacking.

"Ah... I regret to report that everyone was taken out... There were defenders there protecting the place. One of their mages just... wiped out the wyverns. And they had this talking sword. And uh... he was just beheaded. I was able to find the transport device and get out of there?"

He hoped that his pauses and the like would be taken for being upset and distracted by the reported slaughter as opposed to confusion and attempting to think quickly. And was just crossing all his fingers and toes that no one in this group was a part of the old merc group he'd joined with Senija only to be thrown in jail afterwards. After all, they'd made quite an impression there...

: Yeah, he's tough and keeps his cool in a pinch. And if that fails he can fly away on his wyvern.
Bloody hell! The commander made no attempt to hide his anger. I knew that stupid arse Magnussen would get them killed. Half my unit! But he just had to have direct orders from the king...

The commander leaned to take a closer look at Tomik.

Actually... I don't quite remember your face. Did you get transferred recently?

"Yes. Recent transfer. I'm a mercenary. I got transferred out of Commander Oscar Cedrych's squad. Irreconcilable differences lead to higher ups ordering me transferred."
