Harlan came in from his early morning stroll and began nibbling on some fruit.

: "Not often you see a city in such a bad mood. Even in the taverns, everyone's just staring into their drinks and wondering when Ixion's gonna show up. That magistrate fellow better have some good news."

"He better not have bad news." Laura said, having shown up already in armor and prepared for, well, most of circumstances.

"I see."
At Laura and Harlan, Ketsuki raised an eyebrow.
"I do not believe there is much good news to go around, these days."

[Sirus]

: "Just reporting what I saw and heard. When even the whorehouses are about as glum as funeral services, you know that things are pretty dire. Still, that doesn't mean we should give up hope of stopping this mess."

Kyle stumbles downstairs and into the dining room.
"You say that as if brothels aren't depressing to begin with."

Harlan ignored the pirate.

Lamden climbed down the stairs, simply placing himself at a distant table to eat, his face fixed at a stern glare to nowhere in particular.

Tomik arrived a bit after Lamden, and after glancing around the general area, decided to sit down near Lamden. Picking up an apple, he rolled it around in his hand for a bit before asking the man,

"Tell me, what do you think the odds of any of your country still being able to put up a serious fight against Ixion are?"

Lamden responded curtly.
: "...With Auroch and Coriven in the heart of Alberan territory under Ixion control, I do not predict much manpower to be left."

[Swordstar]

"... Fair enough, I suppose it was a stupid question. I suppose this is also a stupid question, but are you ok and is there anything I can do to help?"

: "Do not fret for my sake, Sir Tomik. There is still enough fight left in me to press on. That's all that matters right now."

[Twinwolf]

Catherine continues eating. It'd been a while since she'd had food from her home nation.

[Swordstar]

Tomik frowned.

"No. I'm not going to accept that. You're one of my companions and that answer along with you sitting off here by yourself is enough indication that something is not right. Just because you can fight doesn't mean you'll be operating at your best. And if there's anything I can do to fix that or at least start to fix that, then I want to do that."

Lilly was a little later than Tomik in getting down to breakfast, but she was still in time to hear his exchange with Lamden as she took a seat near him. She was going to say something, but thought better of it since her boyfriend was focused on Lamden right now and instead opted to grab some food.

Lamden sighed.
: "Persistent and straightforward as always. Those traits can get you far in some places, but not others. All there is to 'fix' is the task that lies before both of us, and right the injustices that have been done. The best you can do now to help is to give all effort you can into pursuing victory. That's all that I can ask."
