"Sounds like a good plan Harlan. Perhaps we should bring some of our other mages. Ah, like you Asher. Oh, tomes, yes uh... hang on."

Tomik dumped the rest of the pile of weapons on the ground, and started searching through them. He pulled out a steel sword and strapped it to his waist before digging through some more. Finally he straightened.

"Here we go! I... Well, I kind of just grabbed one. I don't really know anything about it... Beyond that it's dark magic of course. I uh... Hopefully it works!"

Meanwhile, an enthusiast shopkeeper gave Catherine one of his favorite tomes in exchange for good money. Then she went to the various staves store where the shopkeeper there repeated his warning.

: "Well, I had meant the one in charge, but...well, when a mage just shows up right here in front of you it must be some sort of fate. Here, both of you take a look at this."

Harlan extracted the black gemstone from his bag and held it up for the other men to examine.

: "I guess Harold had caught wind of where Lilly was kidnapped. We went there and found signs of some bad fighting, a secret trapdoor, a corridor filled with traps, a dead body, and some sort of puzzle chest containing this."

"And I got some extra booze. Uh... I'll wait to give you the extra bottles..."
Says Kyle who was previously following Harlan like a lost puppy.

[Swordstar]

"There's an axe in here for you too Kyle."

Give Kyle the iron flail

Kyle takes the 'axe'.
"... These mages are geniuses! Putting an axe head on a flail is brilliant!"

[F.O.E.]

Asher was pleased by Tomik's blind shopping.

"You guessed correctly; it's even a Druidic tome!"

Then Asher was presented the mysterious gem and gasped in surprise.

"That's a soul gem! And it's glowing!"

"I've never seen one in person, but I heard they can do a number of things so they're valuable to the right person."

Asher paused and frowned.

"However just having that is basically saying, 'hey I murdered someone to make this'..."

[Sirus]

: "So if it's glowing, that means there's already someone inside it? Is there any way you could tell who made it?"

[Swordstar]

"... And you found this through a passage in the same bar Lilly was captured in... Asher. These soul gems. Can you make more than one of them? And what exactly do they do?"

[F.O.E.]

"Yes, if it's glowing it means there's a soul in it; however, its just indistinct soul energy now."

"I don't know anything about their creation Tomik, I assume that's part of the sealed knowledge that I just recently found out existed from Nikolai. However, I know what they do. They can be used to make enchanted weapons; like that Wind Sword Harold gave to Harlan. I could probably do something like that if you wanted me too."

[Swordstar]

"I'm more wondering why someone would leave something like this behind... And if it has anything to do with our masked friend... He seemed to have power beyond what we could understand. Using both light and dark magic, teleporting himself... These seem to fit in with him."

[Sirus]

: "Maybe, maybe not. I'm inclined to believe that the masked man is indeed behind this, but he can't possibly be the only one out there creating these things. These magic weapons are rare, but they're not that rare."

[F.O.E.]

"Soul gems aren't the only things to infuse weapons with you know; it's just what they can be used for. I don't know what the result of infusing a weapon with one would have compared to other infusion items."

Tomik frowned. He rested his hand on his sword and then shook his head.

"I have no need of improvements to my weapons but perhaps... Ketsuki. She has a sword that I suspect is important to her given what I know of her. The sword her master used. Perhaps this gem could enhance and help preserve that weapon for her. Would you talk to her about it?"

Catherine purchases two heal staves.
