A thought struck Lilly.

"I swear to Bor if I find out in a few years you ended up hooking up with my little brother there will be a reckoning."

[Haspen]

"No promises."

"...I will try not to." Laura looked at Lily.

"Sorry for everything." And then she gave the twig-bard a tight hug with those armored, strong arms of her.

Lilly withstood it for a moment, then let out her breath and slithered out of Laura's hug by sliding down into a crouch and then stepping back.

"All right, enough. I'll agree to a truce. No promises like you said, and no need to try to crush my ribs either."

[Solymr]

The body was that of a man, having been deceased a few days. He had half eaten rations around and tools to board the door, but he was wounded on his side, and a great bruise and an open gash had made him bleed to death inside the room. The only thing of interest was a key in his left pocket.

Meanwhile Harold was looking around the room seeing the stuff.

: Harlan, look at this.

Harold pointed at a metal box with a lock. It was a lot less dusty than the other things in the room.

[Sirus]

Try the key in the metal bawks.

[Solymr]

The key wasn't a fit. It was probably for the former door to the room.

[Sirus]

: "Well, it was worth a shot. Let's try this..."

Reaching into his new bag, Harlan this time produced a strange set of lockpicks. He attempted to pick the box open.

[Solymr]

The lock posed no problem to Harlan's hax skills. The box opened and inside it there was a contraption with gears.

: Hey, I've heard of these. It's a riddle machine, they have a compartment locked and you open it by turning these gears and spelling a password. It usually is the answer to a riddle they have written somewhere.

Harold picked up the machine and examined it.

: Here it is: "I'll be right under your feet in the midday sun, you can never lose me no matter how you run."

[Sirus]

: "Not much of a riddle, is it? It's a shadow."

[Solymr]

: Well, I'm guessing the secure part was being handled by the box. Seems like our bipolar friend is behind this too.

Harold inputted the solution and opened the compartment, revealing a black gem that could fit in Harold's palm. It gave an eerie glow.

: Huh. I have no idea what this is.

There's a muffled 'then don't fuck with it' from the still recovering giant on the floor. He is seriously regretting his attempt at knocking down the door.

[Sirus]

: "Looks like something the magey types should be looking at. You want to hold onto it, or should I?"

[Solymr]

: I'll handle it for now. Let's go.

Harold looked at Kyle awkwardly.

: I don't think we can help him up even at the same time.

He groans something that sounds suspiciously like 'get me my booze'.

[Sirus]

: "We'll have to come back with some help then. Tomik or Laura oughta be able to handle it."
