Nikolai noticed Catherine running around, looking at things and writing stuff.

: Oi! This is supposed to be a secret invention! If you want to know more wait until the official release please!

Harold turned to Lillian and Lamden.

: Well, I'll start right after I opened that tunnel.

He turned so his back was leaning on the railing while facing Lamden.

: Right after we went inside we felt everything shaking. We hurried out before the whole thing collapsed on us. She got out first, but she turned around and had this horrified look when she saw the Church had been hit.

: I noticed there were still Ixion soldiers around so I got her to hide somewhere, and we went to the stables then. We waited as long as we could, but then the building fully collapsed and I figured you weren't getting out anytime soon.

Harold turned around again and looked at the horizon.

: We found Lamden's horse was still in the stables, so we managed to sneak out and ride away from there. We tried going west at first, but there were too many of them, so we turned around and tried to get to some village or somewhere where Ixion hadn't reached yet.

: We didn't have much luck. A squad of soldiers found us and we had to fight them. Somehow we managed to not get killed. Your lady is a real fighter when she gets angry, you know? Harold glanced at Lamden when he said this.

: We were wondering what were we going to do to survive and then I noticed something weird in the sky. Apparently Nikolai was doing another scout run with his ship, and I managed to get his attention and get us to safety. That was... three or four days after we left Auroch.

: We got some rest at Veyriden, healed up and told our story to Nikolai and his boss, Phineas I think it was, and he got some decent place for us to stay as their guests. But a couple of days later a light started shining from the middle of the mountains, everyone suspects it's the Waygate and Nikolai gets sent here to investigate. I joined in and we made our way there, but before we reached the place the light went off and it was too dark to see, so we had to stop in midair until morning so we wouldn't crash.

: And then I saw a small light coming towards us and Senija is there right in front of me the next moment.

Lamden frowned at Lilly's question, but posed another one as well.
: "I assume Lady Anne remains at Veyriden?"

"Were you the inventor? I can keep a secret, but I want to know how this all works!" Catherine says. The excitement in her voice is a stark contrast to the normal professionalism she shows.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Harold answered Lillian first.

: The war is still going, but Auroch was an important victory for Ixion. Now they have a position inside Alberal territory for logistics and war stuff I don't know much about.

: And yeah, she's at Veyriden right now. She wants to ask for Kizamo's help against Ixion and she stayed there to talk details about that.

: Yes! Say are you from Kizamo? I don't remember you being with the rest of them before.

Catherine nods.

"I am. I've been studying magic abroad for a few years now. I joined them shortly after they got off the airship the first time, if what they told me is accurate; they saved me from an Ixion attack on a small town in Alberal. My name is Catherine Hirana. You are...?"

: I thought so! Most people just stare around dumbfounded looking at my inventions like that guy over there. Nikolai pointed at Mason, who got up and realized where he was. Oh and I'm Nikolai of Veyriden.

: Yes. We'll reunite with the Lady and see if the mages are willing to help out Alberal.

"That's good. I hope we can help."

And I hope it isn't too late... I can at least ask her about the Argent family. She might know what's going on with them.

: "That's a relief... Perhaps with their help as well we may yet be capable of liberating a few occupied cities."
Lamden sighed and raised his arm to his head, slowly scratching as he continued in contemplation.
: "Did anyone else inform you of what occurred on our end?"

She extends a hand.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Nikolai."

Ketsuki had woken some time during the discussion and pulled herself to a sittign position.

"Wait. Should not we try to destroy the waygate while we are here?"

Senija was still quite asleep up at the top of the airship.

: Same to you Catherine!

Nikolai went to shake her hand, but while doing so accidentally tilted the ship slightly.

: Whoops! Sorry about that.

Harold grabbed onto the railing as the ship tilted.

: Hey watch out there!

Then he turned to Lamden.

: Well... Senija tried to explain, something about hell and dead things...

Harold noticed Ketsuki was also awake and asking.

: I thought the same thing... Remember the Rune Key? Artifacts like that aren't to be taken lightly, they could release a lot of power if handled improperly. And Nikolai said the Waygate is an artifact of power never seen before. He told me trying to destroy it could literally break the world in half.

Ketsuki glanced towards the direction of the gate.

"I see. Of course, things could not be that simple."
