"They seem rather busy... well Albert did. Lamden... honestly the man's out of it. Probably needs a stiff drink and a soft bed you know?"

: Let's go then. I don't want to wait until the next batch of undead comes for us.

Mason started making a beeline towards the light.

An indeterminate amount of time passed, no one sure how much since there was no sun or change in lighting to determine it, and the landscape was still as desolate as it was at the start. Not a single building or landmark other than formations or rocks in sight.

The way was getting steeper as the party got closer to the light. Soon it started to become a climb rather than a walk. With Kyle leading through a rocky path they made their way until they reached a small flat patch of dirt. And there it was.

The Waygate, emitting a beacon of light towards the sunless sky.

: ...It looks more open than when I saw it before this whole thing happened.

But the Waygate wasn't the only thing of interest. There were also bodies strewn around. Lots of bodies.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Ketsuki drew the Killing Edge and stalked towards the waygate.
"No point waiting now. I'll cut down anything in my way."

"I vote Tomik goes first. Wait, that sounds bad so let me explain. He's wearing the most armor so he's least likely to die."

Without much hesitation, Laura steps forward right along Ketsuki and then tries to poke at one of the bodies with her iron lance.

The ground shook so hard it stopped everyone in their tracks. Then, the bodies strewn around started sinking into the ground. When all of them had disappeared, a huge hand burst out from the ground. The hand propped itself on the ground and an equally huge monster rose from the dirt, the hole mysteriously filling itself afterwards.

A monstrous abomination made from parts of various bodies stood in front of the party, preventing them from reaching the waygate. The headless monster flexed its compound muscles, and the crunching of whatever it was made from could be clearly heard.

Looking near the top of the Waygate, at the beacon of light extending upwards. Lamden takes a deep breath and sighs, almost sounding in relief. As the ground rumbled with the huge monster's movements, the cavalier only stared back.

Ketsuki hissed with anger at the sight of the monster.
"I'll butcher you!"

Catherine takes out the tome that had been taken off that commander a while ago. She wouldn't have been able to use it earlier, but she felt confident she could now.
