Kyle nods as he looks off into the distance. After a while he tilts his head.
"Could be worse."

:"Yeah... at least we won. And... you know, we aren't dead, which I am really, really thankful for."

Kyle blinks and looks to Senija.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, that's good as well. I was thinking more about how it's nice that there aren't any bears here. THAT would be bad."

Senija stared at Kyle for a long moment. And then...
:"I wouldn't mind seeing a bear, because then we'd be out of this place. I... can always just kill a bear. But I can't unkill someone."

"Yeah, but these guys were dead anyways, at least, that's what the one said right? Really, we probably did them a favor killing them again. Putting them to rest you know?"

:"That's... not what I meant, I was referring to us. If we were dead, I couldn't bring us back to life, but anything attacking I can kill. So the fact that we're still alive..."

"Oh, I understand now. I... honestly, I never really gave much thought about dying. Most of my life's been driven by death ya know? So like, I don't really notice it I guess."

Asher nodded and moved closer to the body, making sure he didn't accidently touch it. He closed his eyes and concentrated on the fading magics; he remained like that for a few moments before opening his eyes and frowning.

Divine magic? Animating the dead!? "That was hardly what I was expecting to find," he mumbled as pulled out a faded journal and wrote something in it.

"Thank you for understanding," he gave Ketsuki a slight bow before moving away and finding himself a spot on the ground. He began leafing through the journal, crossing things out and writing new notes.

Catherine walks over.

"This place is absolutely fascinating, isn't it?"

Tomik sighed, as he looked around. Nothing. As he'd feared, he couldn't see anything. He turned back towards the group and spotted the new mage scribbling in a notebook. Heading that way, he called out to Lamden as he did.

"Lamden, if you don't mind, could you join me over here?"

Approaching Asher, he squatted down next to the summoner and poked the notebook with a finger.

"Right. You clearly know something about all this undead stuff. And Lamden there knows about religion and that sort of thing so I figure maybe he can help too. But here's what I see. That master of Ketsuki's mentioned something about the gate. Which makes me think my guess that we'd been tossed through that was right. So what do you know about it?"

Ketsuki sat down, looking tired and pained.

"Albert. If you could...?"
She gestured vaguely towards her cut.

Lilly realized the battle was over a little late, and by then Tomik was distracted with the mage. She settled for shrugging to herself and shouldering her guitar. Once her pick was comfortable in her wristband and her tome at her belt, she walked to the top of a nearby hill to get a look around.

Asher looked up from his writing to see Catherine.

"Oh, certainly. It's just filled with things to research."

Asher withdrew his journal as Tomik poked it, clearly guarding it.

"About the gate? Well, at the moment, all I can remember is that I learned that it had some connection to the dead that the prophets claimed would end the world and managed to get hired as an independent contractor for waygate explorations. After that everything is fuzzy until I woke up crammed in a cell with you and your group."

:"So have most of us, especially now that... it's all crazy and complex and twisted and we can't even do anything right without getting captured or almost killing everyone or getting sent literally to hell!"

Tomik frowned and started to respond to Asher, when he noticed Lilly heading off by himself. He hesitated and then quickly said,

"Right, well, if you, Cat, and Lamden can think of anything useful, let me know, alright? I... need to go check on something."

He straightened and slowly headed up the hill after Lilly. Hesitating a few steps away, he called out,

"It's... it's probably dangerous for any of us to wander too far away from the group alone. Do you mind if I stay nearby or should I go grab someone else to explore with you?"
