Tomik hesitated and then quietly added,

"The object... A mage who was traveling with us at the time believed it to be the Runic Key. The fact that someone of his power could have such an artifact is clearly a problem..."

Lord Luso thought in silence for a few seconds.

: I don't recall  anyone by that name, or this Key you speak of. I'm afraid we know little of Kizamo's contraptions and artifacts. But if it's true that this dangerous man is originally from Alberal, there must be some trait that can identify him.

Meanwhile Albert had managed to get turned around, and after turning a corner, he barely avoided bumping into Catherine.
"Oh, I'm sorry.. Wait, you're that mage that helped us with defending that house, aren't you?"
"Thanks, for defending those people. Um, I don't think I've caught your name? I'm Albert, Albert Rudolph."

"I am, and my name is Catherine Hirana. A pleasure to meet you. Oh, just remembered..." she takes the Heal staff, which she'd tied to her bag, and hands it to Albert. "The thief guy... Harlan? Said that your staff isn't in the best shape."

Albert had stayed mostly silent thoughout the meeting, except for when Lamden had revealed that his broken arm was.. due to some Ixion curse, where he gave a small gasp. Something like that, something capable of blocking healing magic.. Wouldn't that need somebody who was informed in healing magic in some way..?

Lamden bowed his head.
: "Unfortunately, beyond his moniker and strange two-toned mask, we have little information to go on. I have heard, though, that he was tried as a heretic within Alberal before fleeing to Kizamo."
: "After that incident, word had reached us that Ixion had begun its invasion here. We managed to cross the border from Kizamo and fend off a detachment attempting to raze a small village near the border. The citizens living there stated their intent to evacuate here." Lamden lifted his head, "...That concludes the summary of my report."

: Strange... Anyone tried as a heretic would be in jail. Although there was this incident... where a supposed heretic was summarily executed by burning at the stake. It happened a few years ago in Coriven. Our laws forbid such misguided attempts at justice, but no one would speak about what happened or who was involved, just rumors and a missing person.

Lord Luso nodded slowly at the mention of the refugiates.

: I see. A number of people have arrived here looking for a safe haven. I must thank you all again for saving them.

"Coriven?"

It must have happened after she left. It was still troubling to think something like that had happened in her hometown. And if that man was from Coriven, maybe his targeting her wasn't so random after all? That was an unwelcome thought, because if it was true...

Suddenly the door of the church opened again, and a young man came into the room.

: Father, I'm back. Am I interrupting something?

Lord Luso turned to look at his son.

: Don't worry about it. Sir Lamden has just finished his report.

: Sir Lamden's returned? Great! We could use the good news.

Lysander gave a quick bow to Lamden and turned to Lord Luso, but the latter spoke first.

: ...Is there something wrong, Lysander? You seem nervous.

: The attack is imminent, and I've found out that the officer in charge of it is none other than General Ironside.

Lord Luso gave a look of surprise to his son.

: General Ironside? Hmm... Ixion has resorted quickly to an all out attack. I assume their whole strategy depends on taking this city if the King is willing to send his best general to command his forces.

Lilly raised a hand.

"Er, who's General Ironside?"

Lamden quickly stood at attention.
: "Sir Lysander. It is good to see you well."
The cavalier blinked when he mentioned the imminent attack.
: "Ironside... Regardless, to come this far, I believe they're overextending. Do we have information on their forces' numbers?"

Laura glanced at the pretty blue-haired boyo.

Then at Albert and Ketsuki.

Then at the newcomer boy again.
