Laura, hearing this, let out a loud sigh, but decided not to barge in with her three ducats.

Lamden rode by Lillian, hearing the villager woman speak of the situation.
: "Hmm. While I have no issue with all of you headed to Coriven, I must also recommend assisting these people with their evacuation north to Auroch. And... well, Auroch is my home. There are a number of people there I can enlist aid of. Perhaps, if need be, we can rally them south to assist Coriven?"
Lamden dismounted and quickly sealed the rest of Senija's wounds.
: "Up and at them, lass." Lamden quietly turned to Catherine.
: "You have my thanks, milady. Perhaps the fight was a bit too close for my taste, surely it was your help that made the difference."

"Not at all. In fact, I should be the one thanking you. Without you guys, they would have gotten in and killed everyone."

Senija got up, wiped blood and soot off of her face, and whistled for her wyvern.
:"Thankye, Lamden."

: "Let's just save time and be glad that everyone was here when they needed to be." To Catherine, he added: "You can keep that; it's yours anyway."

Tomik had been leaning against the wall of the house catching his breath when Lilly came out and asked about going to check on her family. He frowned as Lamden brought up his point. Neither option was going to make people happy. But these people needed help too... He let out a small sigh.

"I think that Lamden has a point. These people will need help and if your family's city is truly under siege, we would need help to break that anyways. I think that getting these villagers to safety should be our priority but once that's done, we will go do whatever we can for your family."

"We just killed a small army of people with no casualties on our side. A little siege isn't going to be that bad. Ecspecially if we fight dirty."

"Unless you have actual military experience that you've hidden from us, I'd appreciate it if you accepted that I know what I'm talking about. I've worked with various different mercenary groups and with the Ixion army itself. I know what goes into a siege and this? What we just faced? Is nothing similar."

[Haspen]

"Northwest it is... that city, Auroch, is it far from here?"

[Swordstar]

"I don't really know but... Laura, you know this will require you fighting against your countrymen, right? Are you going to be ok with that? I mean, I know you fought here, but that seemed more like you were just... pissed off more than anything."

[Haspen]

"Well... do you want short or honest answer to this...?"

[Swordstar]

"I'd prefer the honest one. Always better to have the truth."

[Haspen]

"Okay..."

"Then I will be honest. I don't really care what happens to this country. But I'm willing to go and fight against my own people on the presumption that, one way or another, our paths might cross with some high-up Ixion commander who can be reasoned with. Or killed, maybe, which will send the army running or have it at least stop and ask for peace terms or whatever. Anything to make Ixion stop fighting because I have this terrible gut feeling that not only Ixion is fighting a losing war, but also that it will be terribly, horrendously punished once the dust settles."

"The other reason is that I'm afraid of going anywhere alone now on the off-chance that Ixionese army might find me. If I get a lie or two properly they might simply re-instate me and that means I would live with the feeling we might get to fight each other, and, um..." She looked at so-far-impervious group around Tomik.

"Worse scenario is that they recognize my family name, brand me as traitor, and according to military paragraph 13, punish me by beheading. Or, considering my gender and my low-ranked status amongst nobility, humilitate me and force me to become a camp woman, bringing shame to my parents, siblings... all my family, and myself."

"If you squint your eyes at my case a bit... you will see that I actually have no other reasonable options that to stick with you."

Tomik frowned at her answer and hesitantly placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry. I wish that you had better options and I know that it is largely our fault that you don't. I promise I'll do what I can to help you and help to end this war sooner rather than later. Obviously I think we would all prefer that this war end peacefully so... Thank you for being honest. I can't imagine what you're going through, but... remember that we all care about you too, ok?"
