Seeing Kyle draw his axe and stand between Tomik and the masked man, Senija decided to provide Tomik some support-- growling quietly, she drew her lance and stood next to her brother. She glared at Kyle, and poised herself to spring should a provocation be issued.

"Everything can be broken. However, I'm not sure if we can break it in the present situation, and even if we could, doing it so callously would lead to unintended... Side effects."

: Blah blah blah, what's with all the asking all of a sudden? Do you think I could trust this matter to anyone I didn't have a clear leverage over? Lovebirds here had to poke their nose in strange places, being an annoyance in my plans and practically begging to be taken.

A second orb, this one made of light, appeared in his hand, and both orbs of dark and light started circling each other.

: Since you're taking your sweet time, I'll make things more clear. The dark sphere goes to the girl, blows her head off. The light one pierces one of you, possibly in the heart. Unless you throw the Key at me, after which I will leave you alone. Understand?

"Just give him that... I wanna sleep." Laura yawned, unable to stop herself from doing it.

"On second thought, just hand it over. We're completely and utterly screwed either way, may as well get it over with."

Tomik reached out and grabbed Lilly by the shoulder, pulling her close to him while tossing the orb to the man.

"Here's your orb."

Pulling Lilly into a hug, he held her tight, hoping that she wouldn't hate him for what he'd done. He knew that she didn't want him to save her, but he couldn't just leave her either.

"Tomik..."

She said nothing else, made no other moves, just stood there for the moment.

Kyle jumps on the masked man. Hey, it might stop him right?

"I couldn't let you die. I just couldn't. I'm sorry, but I... I love you too much to just let you die. Not when I could have stopped it."

The man caught the orb with his hands easily.

: See, that wasn't so hard, was-

He was interrupted by the floor quickly moving ten feet downwards, leaving everyone fairly stunned. The doors in the upper floor had closed, and new ones appeared at the current height. The robed man picked himself up quickly.

: Well, I'll take that as my cue to leave. Have fun escaping this deathtrap!

He pulled a device from under his robe and pressed the button on it. In a few seconds, he had already vanished away.

Alessa let her allies do the diplomacy, as she assessed the composure and recent events.

     Always with the teleportation. Just like Nikolai.

     Harold didn't answer my sincere and innocent question. Somehow, the masked man knew we had the artifact..even if we didn't. There must be-...Either Abel or Harold is working with them. Or Nikolai, but he wouldn't have hired Zane.

     I wish I had a crossbow to easily shoot them. But I can draw quick. Hmm. I must question Harlan.

She stretched backwards and subtly prepared a hand to reach for her arrows. This would get bloody soon--or, teleportation would occur.

. . .She steadied herself after the sudden shift of environment.

     "Bloody mages, indeed. Is there no other way than the linear way here?!"

"Lily..." She moved up to the pair.

"I'm sorry for what I said! If not that you wouldn't run off and I wouldn't lose track of you and you wouldn't get kidnapped and..." Laura's dramatic speech was interrupted by a loud yawn, and then she kinda forgot what she talked about, mumbling quietly as her eyes were half-closed.

Kyle turns to Tomik.
"I'm going to kill you."

Tomik ignored Kyle, too worried about making sure that Lilly was ok.
