"Tomik, this is what it's going to be like from now on. I can't protect myself, and I can't ask you to come rescue me every time I get into trouble - and I will as long as we have to live like this. I tried to leave so I would stop being a burden on everyone, and I just screwed that up too. Do the smart thing and go, all right?"

"I don't care about that. If you can't protect yourself, I'll protect you. You're not a burden, no one here thinks that, and I'm not letting you go. I'd rather die trying to save you then leave you here to die when I could have done something to protect you."

[CrimsonEon]

: "No. A guard must never compromise the safety of their charge." Lamden stamped his quarterstaff, looking at Kyle and speaking in a low voice, "Consider, this man can seemingly teleport some manner of distance with little issue. If we slight him now, there is very little stopping him from simply ambushing any one of us at another time. We may have lost to his gambit, but this does not mean we lose everything."

[UXLZ]

Abel speaks to Tomik.

"You do realise that with the way you're currently intending to make the trade, he can just teleport away taking Lilly with him and obtaining the Key, right? However, I swore to obey your orders and that's what I intend to do. Just try and think things through."

[Sirus]

Harlan spoke to Abel.

: "You idiot. There's nothing we could do to prevent him from grabbing any of us, if that's his intention. Why put up a fuss?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I can't ask that of you, Tomik. I don't know what this man is going to do with that artifact, but I don't wanna ask you to endanger other people just because I screwed up again."

[UXLZ]

Abel rebuts Harlan, gritting his teeth.

"There has to be something, something we can do."

[Swordstar]

"You don't have to ask me to do it. I'm going to do it anyways. I'm never going to abandon you. Ever."

[mastahcheese]

"The only reason he took Lillian was to get the orb. Taking her with him would only slow him down, and have you chasing after him for however many eternities it took for you to catch up. I'm sure he's smart enough to realize that, given that he can teleport himself and others."
Zane looked at the swirling, dark orb the stranger was holding. Typical dark mages. He then looked at the person himself.
"Why do you need the orb, anyway? Why threaten life, and deceive others? If it were a noble task, you could no doubt convince others to assist you, so what is it?"

[UXLZ]

Abel speaks quietly to Zane, hoping the kidnapper can't hear.

"Maybe. My guess is that he either intends to kill all of us, or take another hostage to deter us from following him. At least, that's what I'd do if I was malevolently evil, but there's a chance he's evil yet honorable. At this point we can only hope. Assuming one of us can't think of something to counteract that ridiculous telportation ability, at least."

[Sirus]

To Abel:

: "Other than sticking a knife in his back? Afraid not. We're way outmatched by this guy. And what's the point in taking a hostage? It would only make him easier to follow and make us more likely to do so. Being "honorable" has nothing to do with it, he's simply not being an idiot."

"Harlan gets it. It's a matter of efficiency. It's best we just hand over the orb, and everyone come out alive. For both parties."

[Ochita]

Albert was slightly shaking from the weight of this situation. Here Tomik and Kyle were probably going to start fighting while Lilly's willing to die and everyone is talking and.. This whole situation left Albert speechless, as he simply didn't know what to say or do.

[UXLZ]

To Harlan and Zane:

"The point is to dissuade us from telling others what happened here. Zane, as a fellow mage you must understand how ridiculously insane the object we're trading actually is. If its existence got leaked out along with the information that it was in someone's possession, well... There are probably many others just as desperate as this man. He would be hunted 'till the end of his days.
That's why I think he intends to somehow kill us all, or take another hostage.
I hope I'm just a pessimist."

"I know exactly what the thing is, and I've taken all that into account. You said it yourself. He could just kill all of us. Either we refuse to give him the orb, and he kills all of us and gets it anyway, or we hand it over, and maybe there's a chance he lets us live for cooperating. Stop being so pessimistic and just realize that this is out of our control."
Sometimes being a realist meant being upset more often then a pessimist.
